Brad, I hate that you violated national security so flagrantly.

I also love you for it deeply.

I think that he should be convicted and his MINIMUM sentence should be life in priosn with no possibility of parole. You can probably guess what I think his maximim sentence should be.

The fact that he is gay is no excuse for his criminal activity. And HE does not get to decide what government information is to be released to the world.

And you KNOW that some people will use this case and say, "SEE ! I TOLD you we should not let gey people into the military !" It's a nonsensical thing to say, but some people will surely make that argument. Remember that one of teh reasons we were told years ago that we could not serve was because we were a "security risk". Manning stupidly proves their argument, however illogical it is.

No one has even proved that he was the one who leaked the info. I'm not surprised by you, Freddie, since you jump the gun over Everything. But the press and the non-press alike have condemned this guy without anything but speculation.

Besides, Manning confessed. The defense, in the Article 32 hearing, has already not denied that he did it, but DEFNDING HIM BECAUSE HE IS GAY.

Now if THAT doesn't hurt our cause, what does ???

He confessed.(besides they have the electronic trail). Now if he DIDN'T DO IT, as you suggest, then why is his attorney NOT claiming that, and INSTEAD claiming he has an "excuse" ???

You Libs NEVER want to face the TRUTH.

Uncle Joe would be PROUD of you ! Despite Uncle Joe being long gone, you Libs are STILL fellow travellers.

It's apparent you've never served. I opposed the wars in Viet-Nam and Iraq, and served in both! Those wars are as cluless as those who support them. I don't know the detailes of what Spc Manning did, but it had to take a great deal of courage to do it.

Liberal?-possibly. Oppose pointless military adventures?-certainly. Rot in hell?-not likely.

It is refreshing to see a gay that puts his country before the homosexual agenda. Most gays are selfish and don't care if the liberals destroy this country from within, as long as it means futhering the gay agenda.

I don't really agree with you.

I admit I really haven't followed this case or the story that much, but one thing in this particular article that jumped out at me was the following:

"The Obama administration says the released information has threatened valuable military and diplomatic sources and strained America’s relations with other governments."

and:

"In addition to claims of partiality, his lawyer, David Coombs, argued that Almanza wrongly denied the defense’s request to call as witnesses the officials who marked as secret the material WikiLeaks later published. Instead, the officer accepted unsworn statements from those people, Coombs said."

Our country is supposed to stand for certain principles. So I have to question the President in defending keeping things secret that directly go against those principles.

As you know there is much I like about Obama but his is one thing about him that really disgusts me.

No Bush Jr. was not a terrorist. He was an American politician who followed an old tradition of bulling third world countries and starting a war, while laying the ground-work for government contractors to make (not earn) millions.

Does his MOS or grade have anything to do with what he did? As I vividly recall, they didn't exactly ask my opinion about the war. They didn't ask anybody's opinion nor did we expect them to. They just told me to do my job. And I did. It's what you signed up to do.

Now it turns out that Manning is not gay; he is transgendered
.
Gay guys are he-men who are *not* attracted to women
.
Transgendered guys identify as *being* a woman

.
Is Manning's lawyer trying to confuse the court?

International politics has always been a high-wire act. It requires as much stealth and secrecy as it does open diplomacy. If this soldier spread information that was marked confidential, then he very simply broke the military laws he agreed to uphold when he enlisted.

It is one thing for a civilian outside the government's employ to distribute secrets--the pentagon papers come to mind--because they have not taken an oath to keep those secrets. The military does.
