Hope the little girl does ok, if Dem-Kathleen Seblius had her way, the girl would have already been dead. Thank God that judge stepped in and said she could have lung transplant. I guess we have more of that to look forward to with Obamacare.

She's alive because a judge stepped in to say she could have transplant even though Democrapper in charge of Obamacare told her no. Trying to pretend like you killer's never did that?

These tea-baggers are just suffering as they bang their empty heads against both sides of the ‘Anti-Obama block’. Before Health Care Reform they said that Obama would pick winners and losers as far as who would get care, but when it is convenient for them to be on the negative side of OBAMACARE they say that Obama should have picked the girl over the standing rules. You just have to sit back and laugh as their heads spin. Hope all works out for the little girl but it sets a bad precedence as the failure rate for children receiving adult lungs is high, and others who are older and have a better chance for survival would be passed over for those who might be a waste of an organ transplant. But hey, to Hell with the facts, as long as it pushes their hate-Obama derangement syndrome into overdrive is all that matters.

They told us obamacare would work, they just didn't mention you have to sue the federal government, hire a team of lawyers and get the news media to agree with you to get it.

Not pretending, calling you on your outright lie. Read the article:

"A federal judge intervened, forcing the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network - the private nonprofit group that manages U.S. organ allocation - to add Sarah to the adult list."

Two SETS of lungs for a kid who's got cystic fibrosis and has a poor long-term prospects? I call that a questionable decision.

But hey, c'mon, tell us next about "Obama's Death Panels," haven't heard that one today..:)

The case had nothing to do with "Obamacare," of course. Not that that would stop you from pretending the opposite.

This thread is very informative...every single right-winger here either:

Knows nothing about the case

...knows nothing about Obamacare

...or both

This is why Obamacare is unpopular - right-wing lies and propaganda about it. It's been nothing but disinformation from the right since day 1.

Also, how many sets of lungs should someone get when they're sick with a chronic illness which will shorten their life by more than half? Should there be NO regulations about how transplants are handed out? Should one patient get unlimited transplants? Is someone else going to die because of the extra set of lungs given this girl?

That's the trouble with righties, they're so anxious to hate on Obamacare and Dems they make wild, emotional statements having nothing to do with the facts. Facts and serious debate are anathema to them.

The faux conservatives strike again. I don't want the Secretary of Health and Human services making life or death decisions I want the patients and doctors to make those decisions. I was stunned at the number of RepubliCANTs that begged for government intervention on private sector health matters.

It's not like there weren't rules in place to begin with. There was an actual process in place. They complain about the rhetoric of the left and yet they do the same thing when it comes to issues they agree with. In this case portraying an administration official as evil witch when she was doing her actual job to follow the rules and procedures in place.

The WHOLE purpose of these attacks was a cynical effort to try to blame this girl's plight on Obama and Obamacare. That's what's disgusting about it. It's not like they really care about the girl.

Even a slow progressive like yourself should be able to understand this. The Sarah Murnaghan lung transplant fight began with a 10-year-old girl with end stage cystic fibrosis. Sarah Murnaghan desperately needed a lung transplant in order to survive, but the government health laws (obamacare) stated that Sarah Murnaghan was one year too young to be on the waiting list, which was enforced by Kathleen Sebelius.

Ok, I thought you were slow not fcking stupid. U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, run by Obama appointee Sebelius, makes the rules governing the operation of the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network. Those rules, until overturned, precluded this young girl from getting a transplant. Just so you know, Sebelius runs obamacare.

Wow, you can actually separate one thing from another when someone calls you on it, can't you?:)

Correct, the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network is the source for rules concerning transplants. There are RULES. In this case a judge chose to circumvent those rules due to the pleas of the parents and supporters, including a lot of right-wingers like you who wanted to pretend that the entire thing was all the fault of the President and "Obamacare" and an indication of those "death panels" you all rant and rave about.

As I've said - it was a phony issue, and cynical as well.

I'll give you a B- on that one...:)

Here's the truth about the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network:

"The Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) is the unified transplant network established by the United States Congress under the National Organ Transplant Act (NOTA) of 1984. The act called for the network to be operated by a private, non-profit organization under federal contract.

The OPTN is a unique public-private partnership that links all of the professionals involved in the donation and transplantation system."

http://optn.transplant.hrsa.gov/optn/

Bottom line, if you or anyone thinks the rules concerning transplant availability are bad, then get your representatives to CHANGE or REVISE them. Don't just sit there and use the issue to attack Obama or Obamacare like a bunch of cynical, partisan mopes.

True, however the administrative rules are not made by our elected representatives. They are in fact made by HHS. Which, as you said, opens up the door, right or wrong, to question obamacare and this administration. Now, does healthcare need changes, definitely. Is obamacare the answer? In part, yes. But it is so huge, no one, not even HHS knows what the implementation consequences might be. That is the problem, rather than a controlled plan, we have chaos. Obamacare needs to broken down and looked at. Keep the parts that function and serve the public well, and there are some. Then get rid of the mandates that supply unwanted (by both parties) consequences.
