With deadline looming, White House details cuts

Feb 25, 2013 Full story: politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com 98

Food safety inspections, early education classrooms and mental health treatment are all at risk if massive forced spending cuts are allowed to take effect at the end of this week, the White House said Sunday.

Those cuts would accompany deep reductions in defense spending - including stalling maintenance on Navy ships - that are also poised to trigger March 1. In detailed reports for all 50 states and the District of Columbia, President Barack Obama's budget office spelled out how the cuts - which are the result of a stalemate between Congressional Republicans and the White House over reducing the federal deficit - will affect localities, putting the stakes of the budget debate in stark terms as Congress returns to Washington after a week-long break.

An eDollar is an electric dollar. We have been using them for decades now. Every time a person charges something on their Master Card, Discover Card or any other credit card they are using eDollars.

Yes they are about as worthless as are the Federal Reserve Notes we currently call our currency. only unlike Federal Reserve Notes they DO NOT add or increase the inflation rate.

Therefore by converting those totally worthless 'Special' Treasury Bonds into eDollars we can SAVE our Social Security and Medicare, reduce the National Debt by about 65% and NOT be forced to reduce anybody's benefits or increase anybody's taxes.

Think about it. It is a win-win solution to a never ending problem.

depends on what you call entitlements. SS and Medicare are not entitlements. The American people paid for ss and Medicare out of every pay check we received, for many years. For some of the years, the fund was drawing very high interest. the commie president stole 718 billion from the Medicare fund that we paid in to , to go to bammy care, which most people cannot afford. impeach the commie today.

Every problem has a solution, if only we don't throw up our hands.
The govt can simply dictate maximum allowed charges for Medicare as well and make a license to practice medicine or run a hospital conditional upon accepting any Medicare patient and the payment from Medicare as payment in full.

They already do that for military retirees; no reason that can't be expanded to cover all Medicare patients as well.

That solves the cost of medicine problem.

Obviously you don't understand the definition of an entitlement.

Pssst, it has to do with being entitled to something because you paid into is, like say social security & medicare.....

Well, you must have missed teh "Obama CAre" debates in congress.

You just described the "single payer plan" which the president, and most Democrats supported, and voted for; and which the GOP refused to allow.

And the point is, it should be for ALL AMEICANS. Why should a hospital chage Smith $20. for a test, and charge Jones $250 for the same test. And why should a NON-Profit HOSPITAL chef make TWO MILLION DOLLARS?

TriCare sucks. It is hard to find a doctor who will accept it and when you do well they do minimum care.

Here is a little something to think about.

No bill of attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed. Section 9 Article I U.S. Constitution

An ex post facto law (Latin for "from after the action" or "after the fact"), also called a retroactive law, is a law that retroactively changes the legal consequences (or status) of actions that were committed, or relationships that existed, before the enactment of the law.

So fart everything the Congress has done with regards to Social Security and Medicare have been ex post facto or retroactive and are unconstitutional.

Now I totally agree with you about entitlements. People have PAID to receive them. Welfare is NOT an entitlement program it is government aid that comes with a very heavy price. A person's freedoms and liberties.

What you suggest is 'socialism/communism'. Which makes your term "dictate" fit your political and social agenda perfectly. You may want a "dictatorship", like the one we have now, for America, but most of us don't. There is also no provision in the US Constitution for such "dictatorial power" which allows for this form of socialist intrusion into medical care for US citizens.

No one is forcing you to accept Medicare. You are free to turn down Medicare and pay for you own medical care when you turn 65.

False. I have been retire Marine since February 1974. I was on CHAMPUS when I was first retired and now I am on TriCare and I am unable to get any doctor in this area to accept my TriCare simply because TriCare does not pay. Not only that but because I am Medicare eligible I am no longer entitled to get my TriCare. I am stuck with using the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical System and if I was able to seek my health care from a civilian medical facility I sure would. It simply is not worth all of the pain and agony I have been forced to suffer and for what? To be used as a training aid for interns and residents? As test subjects for some inhumane human experiment? or better yet so some college professor is able to use me as a training aid to demonstrate his or her surgical or medical procedure on so their students are able to learn some new surgical or medical procedure?

At least if a civilian doctor screws up I am able to take them to court to seek damages. When a government intern or resident screws up what do I get? Another government intern or resident who injure me more.

This is your Universal Health care and it sucks big time. You might as well say good by to quality health care along with your rights and at a cost double to triple what we were paying for our health care. Hey it has already started. Seniors are being denied treatment due to their age while everybody else is being forced to pay more for less health care. Remember I tried to warn everybody back when Obama and the Democrats first started talking about forcing Universal Health Care down our throats.

Now it is going to take a person like myself to get us out of this nightmare and create an environment that will give us true quality and affordable health care.

Check it out for your self. I was TriCare Eligible until I was deemed Medicare eligible. My wife and kids had TriCare while I was forced on to Medicare which I refused to do since as you accurately pointed out I should be eligible for free health care for life.as guaranteed me by the contract I signed when I enlisted and reenlisted. TriCare forces us to pay in part for our Health care. that is not what that contract said we would get. the contract stated we are entitled to free health care for life for us and our eligible dependents.

No bill of attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed Section 9 Article I U.S. Constitution. Everything that has been done with our health care has been in direct violation of the Constitution.

TiCare like CHAMPUS is a sham and disrespects our disabled retired military and retired military personnel.

So you're an idiot as well as a liar.

NOWHERE in your enlistment contract did it say you were entitled to free healthcare for life- NOWHERE.

A group of retired servicemembers even tried to argue that in court and they lost. Though it may have been in recruiting materials and even verbally promised, it was NEVER in ANY enlistment contract- EVER.

You CHOSE to refuse Medicare, which would have allowed you transition over to TriCare for Life.

Sucks to be as stupid as you apparently are.

According to a recent article by Tom Philpott, Defense officials are expected to soon announce that military retirees and their dependents that live more than 40 miles from a military treatment facility or BRAC (base closure) site will lose access to TRICARE Prime as early as next April.

In recent years, numerous efforts have been made to increase, or prevent any decrease, of health care benefits and options available to military retirees. Many military retirees and others seeking these increases, or attempting to prevent any decrease in their benefits, often justify their claims based on assertions that the medical care promised to them is no longer available.
1 These retirees say that the relatively large military medical infrastructure that existed during the cold war provided greater access for retirees. They note that as a result of the reduction of the size of the Department of Defense (DOD), fewer medical facilities are available.2 In certain instances, organizations representing military retirees have alluded to ďbroken promises.Ē Some individuals have claimed that these benefits include ďfreeĒ
health care for life, or more liberally,ďfree care for life in military health care facilities.Ē
http://www.law.umaryland.edu/marshall/crsrepo...

They made the promise and now when it is time for them to keep their promise they are stonewalling us and blackballing us to keep from having to keep the promises made.

When I was in Marine Boot Camp I was told that if I were injured I could seek out medical attention from "any" government medical facility which included the VA medical system. After I was retired I went to my local VA hospital. flashed my Military ID Card and requested medical attention and I was refused. The VA doctor said the VA does not recognize my ID card and refused to treat me for my COMBAT INJURIES until the VA determined they were Service-Connected.

I learned way back in 1974 that they lied to us and never intended to keep their promises to us or our dependents.

Last summer I was in a meeting with several widows of 100% Service-Connected Veterans. They have been denied their Survivors benefits by the Department of Veterans Affairs. The widows told me that the reason why they were denied their rightful benefits was because their 100% Service-Connected spouses died of some other cause of death other than what they were 100% Service-Connected for.

A sad truth is the only way the government is able to get away with these shanakins is individuals like yourself and an apathetic public.

It is a lot like if you are able to collect your retirement pay along with your VA Disability Compensation or concurrent pay. You can thank me and my Veterans Rights Organization for that one. Yes I have been fighting for you for a very long time and YES I know exactly what I am talking about.
