Two months after the city of Columbus placed restrictions on a permit for the annual School of the Americas Watch protest at the Fort Benning Road gate, city officials offered a compromise plan on Tuesday that would allow the group to protest and keep two lanes of traffic open as requested by Fort Benning.

The thing about these protests that the protesters don't seem to understand is that we all acknowledge their right to protest but they don't have a right to be heard. They want to be front and center forcing our community to hear their objections and complaints yet we want to exercise our right to ignore them.

Excellent point... we pick and choose what causes we want to support, or even spend our time hearing about. freedom works like that, both ways.

With Columbus quickly becoming the rape, murder, dope, cut, shoot and unemployment capital of the southeast, some would say that the soa protesters should be the least of our concerns. Maybe your concern is for their safety since they will be visiting the south end of town.
