Imagine what is going to happen when Obama accidentally hit a chemical stockpile, especially if that stockpile is near a rat nest.

Dear VP Kerry;

Please be advised that if Syria turns into an al Qaeda stronghold and Kurdish, Christian, Alawite killing field after your noble intervention, it's YOU who will be held accountable by the American people. Unfortunately, it will be too late for Syria.

Accidentally?

More likely on purpose, then point another finger at Assad.

They know where some weapons are stored. But if Al-Assad is competent at all he has at least some of his weapons hidden where the UA cannot find tem. Once bombs start to fly, nobody should e surprised if they hit chemical storage and hiding facilities and release h a huge cloud over the entire region, including and especially over Israel. This idea of attacking Syria is just wrong headed any kind of way we look at it. And, I think Obama wishes he did not have this problem. But he does have it because he set in motion dynamics that have clearly gone beyond his or anybody else's control. Egypt was a huge humiliation. So they do not want to miss an opportunity for revenge. The problem that is not what is best for the USA. In other words, it is anti-patriotic. The White House obviously care more about saving Obama's political career than they care about what is best for America. This is why the have not been able to work with Congress these past five years. It is selfishness, not patriotism.

Well, that's kind of the problem, isn't it?- That he's determined to hold Syria responsible no matter who was actually responsible.

Thomas Paine once said in his bestseller 'Common Sense': "Let's not let facts get in the way. It just complicates life to no end."

Well, not accidentally exactly. I heard today on CNN, from an astute military analyst that they will target chemical storeholds and expect civilians to die from the fallout but it's better than not destroying them and letting al Qaeda loot them.

That's what we pay the big bucks for, astute military 'intelligence'. Just can't beat it in my book. LOL

Anyway, we'll cover it all up or blame Assad for it, so - no foul, no harm.

The problem with that approach is this: if they hit one chemical storage facility, Al-Assad will use it as propaganda. Once the idea that the west is targeting chemical weapon facilities is created, Al-Assad could and probably would or should use the propaganda cover to attack the rats wholesale with chemical weapons and blame it all on the west. See, my point is this: there are no good options for the west in Syria no matter how you look at it. And it is all Obama's fault for staring this mess in the first place in Libya and in Somalia.

Assad won't have to use it as propaganda. Given the current situation, the West itself will hang Obama out to dry if that happens.

If Assad understands this, then the chance that he'd try to make it look like we did even if we didn't might be in the cards and would be a major coup for Assad. It would be a purely Machiavellian thing to do but isn't this entire lead-up to war straight out of one of Machiavelli's treatises?

Irving, I suggest you find yourself a nice Syrian girl and start a peace process that might, in a few generations, actually bear some fruit.
