Riding on motorcycles is for people that have no respect for the laws of physics or their own health.

I'm sorry you are wrong about that. The danger to us motorcycle riders is the fact that no one watches out for them. My hubby and I have had people cut us off, pull out in front of us, and tailgate the motorcycle. Hubby has been driving them 30+ years and the only near mishaps that has happened, would have been caused by the idiots on 4 wheels that don't watch or pay attention.

My son was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash several years ago. It was caused by a man who was not paying attention and was driving in the incoming lane.

Because of a driver not paying attention to his driving for a few minutes, my son laid on the ground for nearly an hour waiting for a helicopter, spent many weeks in a trauma hospital and months in rehabilation. His crushed bones require extensive surgery every few years. Screws back out, metal plates shift and plastic surgery/skin grafts are an ongoing process.

Most drivers do not carry enough insurance to pay for medical bills that add up to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Settlements do not cover the cost of a lifetime of corrective surgery or missed work due to specialist's appointments (skin graft surgeons, specialized surgeons for damaged vessels and nerves, bone and muscle graft specialists).

My son is thankful to be alive without any brain damage. If you are going to ride at least make sure to wear a regulation helmet. His helmet was the one thing that saved his life. The impact of his head hitting the pavement split the helmet in half, but it aborbed the impact that could have smashed his skull.

Drivers please be aware that you are not the only ones on the road. Whether it be a motorcycle or another vehicle. You inattention could cause the death of someone else's loved one.

It was his fault for riding in traffic with zero protection.

No sympathy for bike riders...they how bad drivers are, they know the danger, yet they insist on driving amongst 4000 lb vehicles.

Motorcycles are for really stupid people to kill themselves on, no mystery at all.

I see it both ways. Drivers should be more aware of motorcycles on our roads but on the other hand I have a 20 yr old stepson that rides a crotch rocket and has no regard for how fast he rides or risks that he takes. We tell him and tell him to be careful and it does no good. He wears all of his protective gear but I dont believe that will matter to a semi or a tree or whatever type of major accident might happen. On the other hand he was involved in an accident where a car pulled out in front of him and he slid into a ditch. The car saw what happened and kept on driving. We worry constantly when he rides for his safety and other people on the road, but what do you do when he is an adult. I have shown him accident pictures on the net and have preached and preached to him but at that age they think they are invincible. Thankfully now it is getting cooler out and he drives his car but he doesnt do that much better either!

For your information, she stated he had on a helmet. That is protection against head injury and all helmets that motorcycle riders buy are DOT approved. Also, read your statistics, there are more people killed in airplane crashes & regular vehicles than there are on motorcycles. People who ride motorcycles aren't stupid, as a matter of fact, most of them are very smart and donate to alot of time to various charities(like bike runs for terminally ill childrent, the christmas toy runs for the children who may not have a christmas, supporting runs for Vietnam Vets), etc. Google it and look up the statistics before you place stupid remarks about motorcyle riders and accidents. You will be surprised by the number ratio of accidents that happen in regular vehicles compared to the ones involving motorcycles.

Everyone would do well to ignore rattlecattle. He's what internet blogs call a 'troll'. He appears on forums like this one, makes inflamatory statements to gain attention/stroke his inferiority complex, and then sits back and watches the show. Responding to his type of posts only encourages him to write more insensitive comments. But I digress; my condolences to the family and friends of the man who died.

Do motorcycles have seatbelts, airbags or bumpers as they are going 70 MPH?
Motorcyles are good for the population....they get rid of IDIOTS
Our local Harley Dealer was KIA on a motorcycle 2 months ago...that was justice in a way.
He had no airbag other than himself.
How can you call someone who died in accident "justice"? All he was doing was traveling by his chosen mode of transportation. Motorcycles don't have seatbelts (but most people in cars don't wear them anyway, just look while you riding down the highway), they don't have airbags (i've had two of my friends that died from injuries caused by airbags, so they aren't foolproof either), and they don't have bumpers (but alot of vehicles don't have them either, just pay attention to the jalopies that some people are driving down the road). And another thing, when it is your time to go,it is your time to go and it doesn't matter if you are in a car, an SUV, an airplane, a Tank, or a motorcycle...So before you preach against something look at all the facts. I even have a friend who would not have died had he "not" had his seatbeat on. The impact (another vehichle hit him head on) forced the seatbeat so hard that it broke a rib that in turn punctured his heart, so no mode of transportation is SAFE!!!!!

You will think cut someone off, if you cause and accident and they sue your butt off. That will happen if you cut someone off and they are in a car, truck or whatever. I think idiots that drive SUV's at 65 mph on snow & ice should be outlawed too, but I have no control over that and you have no control over what everyone else drives either. The motorcycle that we own is no louder than these idiotic little nissans and stuff that people put pipes on that makes them sound like a sick volkswagon; and most of them aren't as loud as this thump thump max bass that people are listening too in their vehicles. HOPE YOU HAVE PLENTY OF MONEY, BECAUSE IF YOU SERIOUSLY HURT SOMEONE BY PULLING OUT IN FRONT OF THEM, YOU WILL LOSE!!!

If you are responsible for the wreck or injury of another driver, your insurance is going to have to pay for all the injured person's medical bills. Once your vehicle insurance "caps out", you will personally be responsible for the balance. It is called a lawsuit. The injured motorcycle rider will own you for the rest of your life. You will be paying for future medical bills and "pain and suffering" of the injured person for the rest of your life.
