Wake up, teachers! Time to go back to your 182-day-a-year, 7-hour work day, week off in November, week off in December, week off in April, Summers off, cake job that you willingly sign up for, yet constantly complain about your pay.

Emjoe, you're trying to overwork the poor slackers. It's only 180 days and they are trying to reduce it to 178 and it is only 6.5 hours per FULL day. I say "FULL day" because there are roughly 60 minimum days and contrary to what they say most of the teachers are out the door right behind the students. It's 2 weeks off in December and you completely forgot the week off in February for "presidents week". Of course don't forget every chickenschit holiday they can dream up too.

Maybe we are since we are two of the very few people on this forum who state facts and posses a very large amount of functioning brain cells.

Emjoe and BLB speak the truth.

Just pull up teacher contracts from several random school districts in California.... Average the numbers; they are both in the ballpark....

Example: A Vacaville teacher works a 6 1/2 hour day which includes 45 minutes of prep time, but they do work a 184day work year (which includes training days).

Fairfield-Suisun: 7 1/4 hours a day which include prep time and 30 minutes of lunch. They too work a 184 day year (includes training day)

And don't think they volunteer their time beyond that for other projects. Extra pay per their contracts....

There are other districts that have it better than our locals: their education success rates are no better....

Don't condemn those who put the facts out there....

Teachers have a sweet deal and they know it..... Why do you think they fight so hard to maintain it?????

That's right, I forgot about every Wednesday being a half-day, and the last week the kids are in school, no actual learning is being done. They let the kids just play games and watch movies all day. Teachers are overpaid as it is.

I did attend a university and concentrated my studies in a field that produces much more income than a public school teacher. I would starve on the piddley little school teacher salary.
