I am not proud of what I am reading here. 20 new recruits, hu. What about after service? Did you recruiters explain to these young men/women that they don't have jack. They don't have benefits to look forward to once out of the service and return home. You need to break that bad news to them as well. Indeed they have the benefits, but only if they decide to leave in America after military service. Once you set foot on FSM soil, son you on your own. Uncle Sam don't give a ratz ass about what happens to you in FSM. So there's nothing to be proud of and nothing to announce proudly about 20 young Micronesians heading to the Military service.

Isnt that a choice we all make eventually tho? There isnt anything in your contract that guarantees benefits outside the US.,,,last I checked...we all know that and yes we all served for all sorts of reasons. And the benefits (the military retirement and VA payments)you can transfer from between banks if you know how. I for one am proud to see these guys and gals stand up and serve...not only for the benefits but for what the services will do for each and every one of them. You definitely grow and mature faster than your civilian counterparts serving on real world missions doing and accomplishing in a short period what others may take a lifetime to do. I sorta expected others to frown on your choice but for another of our vets to step on your toes? Be for real...stand by your brothers and sisters who have chosen to do the same thing you did for a reason greater than themselves. Proud KVet

Thank you KSA Vet and Laugher. That is exactly what I want to see in this thread fellow islanders putting in a few good words and advice to your Micronesian sisters and brothers Micronesians in serving in the Armed Forces.

My heart always felt sad when I see a fellow Micronesian criticizing those who had to make a very difficult decision to join the Armed Forces.

I am a mother of a soldier currently serving in the Armed Forces. Beleive me when i say that it was a difficult decision for my family to accept but we had to respect the choice. It was not for the benefits or what not, my child is a human being who decided for himself to take up this decision for him, my husband and I respect that, the only thing we got to do is support him.

A little advice to the new recruits:
Make use of that college money that Uncle Sam is giving you. It's not much, but it's enough to get you started, at least with an AS degree of some type.
Play safe and God bless. We're proud of you.

U sure bout that S vet? Cause I have a Cuz who came to Pohnpei and receives his benefits. He renovated his house, expanded his yard, his got like 3 cars. he's pretty pimp and alright. Every end of month he's got $$$ and sometimes go to guam to collect his tax refunds. I'd say he's been doin good in his service, but maybe for you S vet maybe you were an asshole when you were in service u came to pohnpei and you're like a sh*t....or you're jealous of those recruits...pffff u really sound jealous you can just go and eat pig sh*t looser...you're a waste in the armed service you ungrateful douche bag...pohnkirek amwen!!!
