Tony's is gone. He retired. The Boat is still there but with no more american's it is about to close. Mostly there is car dealers around the back gate now. I think that Bruno's turned into the Boat when he bought his new place.
Pat, we were talking about Tony's the Rundhaus....go out the main gate and take a left, and it was about a half mile on the right, I was there from 72-76 and the "Boat" didn't exist yet....Bruno's place was not far from the "Rundhaus" as I recall.....

We referred to this place as the "Round House." It was across the road from the Wolfgang Hotel and on the way to Grossauheim Kaserne. I was with 88th Ordnance Company from 2-62 to 6-64.

I didn't know it was called the round house. I always called it Tony's Pizza. We used to skip school there when we were younger and then hang out there before walking or taking the bus to the Rod n Gun Club. Memories are wonderful aren't they.

If any of you are on FB, there are some nice groups. I run a group for Hanau Rod & Gun, but just search for Hanau and all kinds of good stuff pops up :)

I was stationed in Hanua on Pioneer from June80-Dec83 in the 81st Maintenance Company Bld 10, I think it was. Yes the soldiers and community there were family and had the times of my life there. EToneys by the end gate got most of my paychecks, but the food and drinks were wonderful. We worked hard and even played harder, but times have changed and I will always misss the way it was over there.
Talk about a blast from the past, how the hell are you Glenn. I was in the 81st Maintenance Company Apr 81 to Apr 83 at that time they called us Vcorp junk men and then I became Company Mail Clerk. Had a lot of good times back then I haven't seen or heard from anyone in forever, I saw Jim Stewart aka chippy back in 86 and Jon Fredricks back in 04, have you talked with anyone and if so I sure would like to touch bases with you Glenn.

Hello all,
I lived on the economy while my dad was stationed on Fliegerhorst. Lived in Erlensee from 1968 - 1973. If anyone happens to know those high rises, I lived on Beethovenstr. 7. And I will just echo everyone else's sentiments, the best years of my life. It was so innocent back then and I had the best German friends while at school I had some memorable american friends.

i was in the 23rd engr bn from 76 - 79 . germany was very beautiful but i despised military life . i very well remember lamboy annie . brrrr
a kid from our company moved into an apartment in the high rise right behind hessen homburg with her in 79 . madore was his name . im sure his d*ck has fallen off by now . i came home in 79 with hepc and i dont really think it was from using iv drugs 3 - 4 times . ive always believed it to be from a bunk vaccination that the army gave us . the va killed the virus for me this year after 3 previous attempts over the last 15 years . germany is beautiful tho . im a stone mason now and trying to give these ugly american homes some old world charm has been my business for the last 25 years . ill probably never get around to visiting hanau again cause im no richer than i was at 17 yrs old . yea i went overseas when i was pretty young .
