Does anybody remember when the barracks on the right (facing the front gate) had a fire in the attic (where the guys kept empty stereo boxes etc). I remember walking from Wolfgang to Pioneer and seeing the smoke. The guys walking behind me were laughing about somebody's barracks were on fire until they figured out it was theirs and they took off running. I think this was in the early 80's. I heard that one guy was mad at another guy for dating his ex girlfriend and started a fire up in his area where he kept his stereo boxes and other things.

I was stationed at Pioneer between 1969 & 1972 with the 223 Ordnance. Its a shame it closed. a lot of jobs lost The same here in the Philadelphia area 25,000 jobs gone with the ship yard in 1995
I was one of the lucky ones not laid off. I still think of Hanau at times a lot of good memories

I was at Pioneer from 1960 to 1963. 33rd Ord. Co.(C&C). The company gyroed to the States (on paper) during my tour. All but two of us got reassigned. We were too short. By the time we rotated, Larry Daughtery and I were the only ones left.
Our shop was at Quartermaster Kaserne. Its probably not there anymore either.
We spent a lot of time on pass in Steinheim at Nicos and the Main Terrace. I sure would like another one of those flip top beers.
I was with the 33rd ord. Co. From May 62 until it was deactivated.Since I had recently gotten married before the deactivation they transfered me to 42nd Ord. Co across the street.Larry Daughtery's name sounds familiar.

I was in SVC Battery, 2/20 FA (Francois Kas.) from Jan '91 until we deactivated in April 92. I've always been grateful for the (short) time stationed in Germany, although I didn't spend a ton of time on Lamboy, but remember Tony's well and loved Frankfurt (Club Negativ, Dorian Grey, WOM). Don't see many posts from peeps in my unit, people I knew- R. Alcorta, Aguilar, W. Green, A. Wilmot, Wilder, Belanger, O'Brien, SSG Bowman, Sgt Burroughs, SSG Valdez. I often think about them, and some of my german friends, namely Audrey and Gabi. Would love to hear from folks, hope everybody's doing great!

Stationed at Pioneer Kaserne from 83-86, 81st Maint Co....David Sidoli, I remember you and you worked with my husband, Sgt Michael Favors in the inprocessing station at Grossauheim Kaserne. I was so saddened by the video on You Tube of the desolation of Pioneer Kaserne. I can't even imagine wanting to go back to Hanau and not see a thriving Pioneer Kaserne.

Though stationed at 42nd Trans at Fliegerhorst from 67-69, that was part of the 85th Maint battalion in Hanau. The housing my wife and I had was across the river not far from Battalion HQ. Loved the place. We enjoyed it

Sharon,

Just read your post...you are 100% correct about the impact people and places have on somebody's life until you go back in time and think about it.

I was on Pioneer Kaserne from 1983 until 1988. I was in the 516TH Engr Co. I miss the times and friends I made there. I was saddened when I found out they closed the post.
