We have gun laws, we ought to obsess over enforcing them, not creating more confusion. We also need to acknowledge that everyone of the horrible shooting in America i. The recent years have been caused by people that had a documented history of mental illness. We need to create a mental illness database that can be checked when someone wants to buy a gun or obtain a permit for a weapon. I am sick of hearing about privacy rights for these people, what about the rights to life of the people they killed!! Regulate the mentally insane not legal gun owners!!!

There's never much talk about how to protect a law-abiding citizens right to keep and bear arms. That's why gun control proposals are non starters.

Just like previous posts.....why doesnt the gov crack down on those who commit crimes using guns. Make it soooooooooo freakin distasteful to get charged with a gun crime that the might...just might think twice. Rob a store..using a gun. 50years.

Oh wait...they have rights....gov doesn't want to foot the bill to house them. Like they are currently releasing so call "non violent" offenders.

Obsess on that before you even think about coming after the legal responsible gun owners.

Its not the guns obama...its the whack jobs behind them. Those people have no place in a civilized society. Until you can rid society of those types of individuals.....We have a right to protect ourselves from them with equal power.

Should be obsessed with finding out why these mass killing perpetrators have the urge to kill and are cold & callous enough to plan out their impersonal acts of violence on strangers. I thought rage led to things like stabbing someone 50 times or shooting someone in the head.

Besides the anti gun agenda could it be things like profit and the urge to keep a large portion of the population medicated with psychiatric drugs like SSRIs?

Would more hardcore investigations uncover things like false flags, brain washing, over or improper medication & psychiatric treatment, work place and business cover ups?

Or I dunno.... have better security? That's pathetic that anyone can just walk into a military base like that. Right now the government is showing how easy it is to overwhelm them and that they are weak and poorly defended.

Just let the military actually carry guns on their military bases.

Problem solved.

first, we need to address this overwhelming and UN-American mindset that the govt, ANY govt, can protect us from all/any but the BROADEST threat.

in fact, the 'lone gunman' is the single most prevailant threat that govt, any govt, can protect us from because it IS so small, numerous and can come from ANY where.

add in these learned begaviour of doing NOTHING, being prepared to do NOTHING and, therefore, being like fish in a barrel when these situations arise.

will one armed, legally, constitutionally armed citizen (govt worker, off-duty military member, teacher or clerk, etc...) be able to STOP a determined killer? maybe, maybe not.

BUT, the mere thought or fore-knowledge that SUCH a possibility exists will give all but the most mentally deranged perp pause. the 'what IF' factor can be very detrimental to most any action. ask the IRS and traffic cops...'what if' keeps most of us from NOT cheating every Apr 15th AND stopping at those remote STOP signs, doesn't it?:)

this notion of 'let Uncle' do it or a locked school door with a buzzer entry will work is fast being dis-proved, isn't it?

with ample warnings and pleas for assistance, this FG could not(or WOULD not) prevent Benghazi, the Boston bombing, Syrian gassing OR the Navy post shooting.

our local govts/police certainly did NO good in Chicago this past week's shooting sprees... even in a city KNOWN for such propensity for such violence!

how about Detroit, a modern city in great decline: almost an HOUR police response time?

still feel save and secure and want Uncle to 'handle' it?

the Founders told us WE are the Masters of our OWN fates... and they gave us the 2nd Amend to allow us to retain that mastery. don't you think that they meant for us to be safe and secure at work, on the streets and in malls, using our parks and other entertainment venues AS WELL AS OUR HOMES?

remember this: no matter where you are, when the sh!t goes sideways, even a MINUTE of response time can be an Eternity... and the difference between being and NOT being.

and, the average response time is, what, seven to fifteen Eternities?

Obsess us??

Maybe he's the one who is worried about getting shot.

Surrounded by all that security, he still knows that there just might be ONE 'lone gunman' out there and he is TERRIFIED - OBSESSED.

Obama and the Democrats are already obsessed with gun control and the dream of fascism, easy victims. Real Americans want more fire power to fend off Democrats.
