Birmingham mayor wants overdue parking fines paid

“We've got to start collecting what is out there and what is owed the city so we don't have to figure out how to do all these community projects.”

Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford plans to propose a new policy aimed at getting thousands of overdue parking fines paid by imposing a $500 penalty for those who fail to pay by a Feb. via Alabama Live

I propose that the Mayor waive the penalties for parking tickets until Feb. 15, 2007. If tickets are not paid by this date, then impose the penalties and the $500.00 fine.

Don't put these deadbeats that won't pay in jail.
Force then to get a GED so they can get a better job, in lew of paying the fine !
This is a loose, loose deal for B'ham,the fine does not get paid and i am sure LaLa plans to foot the bill for GED training and test.
LaLa also mentioned comunity service in lew of fines, when these deadbeats don't show up for that i guess he will force then to get a college education.
