I appreciate that the Ruidoso News has published almost all of this long submission.
The information they cut in the interest of saving space is as follows: "McWilliams et al.(2004) estimated that 13,000 Americans in the 55-64 age group died in 2000 because they were uninsured, making lack of insurance the third highest cause of death in this age group. Estimates do vary—the Institute of Medicine (IOM) estimates 8,000 for the same age group that year."
Note that even the lower estimate is approximately twice as high as the number of Americans who died in the tragedy of 911.

Also, the original had "on Thursday August 6," not 'on Aug.' I think there are a couple of other minor glitches.

Ellen Wedum, are you capable of thinking at all for yourself, or are you only capable of regurgitating the "facts" according to what the far liberal left has been spewing since the beginning of this debate?
The FACT is, that the vast majority of the voting public DOES NOT want this Health Care reform as proposed. Health Care reform, yes. THIS Health Care reform, no.
This is why you can't win an election to save your life. You are out of touch with the voting base.

I have to agree with ANON and do so with all due respect.
I spent so many years right where you are at I could probably finish your sentences.
There is a lot of wisdom to be gleaned from the saying, "Beware of Greeks bearing gifts" and it's comforting that so many Americans have the discernment to recognize that.
America, as a people, have spoken loud and clear.
