Hi to all

I have been in touch with Spencer as I qualify for an implant in my eye with iris coloboma.

I'm in the UK. I'm not sure which country to have it done in. I've been told I can either go to Jordan, Tunisia, or India. I will be travelling alone. Can anyone advise me on the safest country I could go to? The cost of the surgery in India is five times less than the cost in Tunisia and Jordan. However the flight is more expensive.

Also, is there any paperwork that needs to be exchanged etc beforehand. I'm reluctant to book my flight and hotel without any phonecall or paperwork from bright ocular. All I've exchanged is a few emails from Spencer.

What is the usual procedure?

Hi, i know what you are feeling as was the same with me...
I am in Uk as well, London... I went to Jordan last September and i met the Dr Habash, great Dr and very good clinic.
Jordan is not expensive and is very nice country.
I don't know about the others countries...
What i can say is that (spencer) normally don't call, you need to ask him to do, if that is important for you.
But the all thing is real, if you need more information, just ask me ok

Hi Richard thanks for your reply.

Do you have any before and after pics?

I don't think I'll be going to India as I've been told to go alone would be suicide. Think I'll go Tunisia..

So what did u do? Did u email Spencer proof of flight ticket? What guarantee do you get that someone at the other end is there?! Surely some kind of paperwork is provided?? At what point do you pay brightocular for the procedure? When you're there?

Hi
The steps is as Spencer will say to you.
Normally he ask to you to do a transfer (that he provides all the details), as deposit!!
I understand that, as the lenses is unique for your eyes, and you pay the rest there for the Dr.
I don't know about Tunisia, as i have done in Jordan, i am happy with all.
Spencer will ask you if you need someone to pick you up in the airport??
I think so they are serious people, i know few people that have done the procedure and all good.
Cheers

Hey Kristy

With your previously mention eye condition coloboma you should qualify for Bright Oculars Happy Eyes program. If you re not familiar it's on the website or ask Spencer if you qualify.

Hi Stephen

Yes that's how I'm getting it done..through the happy eyes system. But it's still $2200 to have it done in Tunisia. However it's only $400 to have it done in India. But I've heard India isn't safe to be alone?

Okay i am back! and AS PROMISED i have great news. I have done the surgery!! it is WONDERFUL. results are great! i had the smokey grey and they look natural so if you are considering it. have no doubt and go for it, not only that it looks natural it also gives off different colors under different lightning. its also very light under the sun light. so it isn't very dark. neither it is too bright it is sort of somewhere in the middle. i personally find it better than the ice grey which i find too bright. Recovery? first day it is blurry but nonetheless can see your way through and all. Pain? well during the procedure a little bit but it isn't that bad at all... and its very quick.. we were done before i knew it. i haven't had any videos or pictures up, had to pay extra for the privacy which is cool. the whole point is for it to look natural to claim its natural! so i wouldnt go around telling people HEY I HAD MY EYES DONE! unless its on the Internet and its anonymously done ;p second day, less blurry. by the third day my eyes weren't even red. vision is perfect! no pain or anything. BUT for like the first 4 days i had to put on drops every HOUR! except when im sleeping of course and then after that i have to use some special drops for a month or so which i am still using. Spencer Vessa is the guy to contact if you are considering it, prices differ depending on whether u allow taking photos or not and also locations and such. and all of that can be determined with Spence.. other than that i am feeling great, i've received many compliments and i love the results. so far no complications... but if anything happens i will be sure to share it with you guys because thats the whole point of me writing here. because i know how frustrating it is not to find info especially when you are considering under going something as serious as this. but my advice is go for it, choose the color YOU want. and do what you feel like. your body, your eyes, your choice and you do what makes you happy!
wish you all the best of health!
Hi Venus! In wich location do you done your surgery? Can you give me some information about this?! Thank's

I had brightocular in 2010 and I still love them and am doing great. Im from Mexico. I wish I did wait for the new 2013 implants which has improved cosmetically and structurally with the new textured surface. My friend from Saudi Arabia has her eye color change in Tehran which is in Iran. Im not sure I would travel to that type of country but I suppose its good for middle eastern patients
She actually had surgery done due to her coloboma eyes. Im guessing due to the low currency exchange surgery might be cheaper in thise countries.I would just be scarred of terrorism. I think artificial iris are used in Iraq and Israel also not sure.
hola maria,
Escribiste que tu amigo hize esta operacion en iran.soy de iran pero vivo en alemania.puedes darme el direccion de este medico in iran por favor. Esta tu amigo contento con la operacion?

UPDATE ON SURGERY: Just to let everyone know, I posted on these forums last spring stating that I will be undergoing the surgery. I underwent the surgery in October 2013 in Jordan by Dr Salman Habash.
Now, I have been contracted with Uveitis and have been told by the doctor who performed the surgery and by UK Ophthalmologists that I need to remove the implants. Also, I have lost focus on objects when I observe them closely.
I am sure Spencer wont do anything or even offer me a partial refund.
DO NOT UNDERGO THE SURGERY.
Frankly, all BrightOcular care about is receiving payment. Also, the implants ARE NOT REALISTIC AT ALL. The lack of pupil dilation is very noticeable and the lack of an iris pattern further reinforced the implants lack of realism.
My advice: WAIT FOR NEW, MORE AUTHENTIC PROCEDURES TO RELEASE IN THE MARKET! Stroma medical are researching on a laser which removes pigmentation, albeit it only lets you have blue eyes but its exponentially better and cheaper then BrightOcular.
If you have any questions, let me know and I'll do my best to provide an articulated response.
