59 y old patient, had undergone low anterior resection for rectal tumor. I got a patho report of colonic tumor: adenocarcinoid. Isn't it an adenoendocrine carcinoma according to new WHO classification?
Pathologic description: "superficial areas shows mucous secreting adenocarcinoma areas".Most areas consist of sheets and nests of tumor cells that are relatively small and have mitotic activity and cellular pleomorphism. IHC is negative for CK-7 and chromogranin A. Positive for CK-20 and CD-X2 in malignant glandular elements but negative in smaller cell clusters. NSE and synaptophysin are weekly positive in most areasand focally stronger posit. in small cell clusters. KI >75% in small cell clusters. Thanks for Your expert opinion. My mail:
