I have been in the Medical Feild for over 20 years, and it has always amazed me at how little people know or understand about death and dying, and end-of-life care, even Medical Professionals. There is so much fear of death, that people are not willing to face it. Death is as natural a part of life as birth. This is the area of health care where people really need education and help from people who understand it. At SVMH we recently got a Palliative care Physician, Dr. Katsic, who is just wonderful! His kindness and understanding is quite remarkable, and he is really making a difference. I hope the rest of the country goes in this direction! It is sorely needed!
