I had a mastectomy and chose not to have reconstruction. The fact that I was never really "stacked" played into it. I was quite satisfied with my "adopted daughter," and I talked to a number of women who had breast reconstruction. It's markedly more difficult surgery to recover from, and every single one of them got a serious infection from that surgery.

So I skipped it.
