ok just one other question about a massage.
Hubby and I are going to do a couples massage on our next vacation. The term full-body. What does that mean for me? Like do I roll over and the massuesse massages my chest, stomach and legs like that? or just lay on my back and they go head to toe?

The term "full body massage" seems to have differing meanings, which makes it kind of a meaningless term. Sometimes it means 100% of the body. Other times it really means 80-90% of the body (no genitals, sometimes no buttocks, and sometimes even nowhere near them).

Mindy, you're right. There seems to be a lot of confusion over terms used. Why not state exactly how it is. In my business, I offer a full body massage which takes two hours. On the intake form the massage sequence is listed stating all the areas and a box to tick. If the client does not want a particular area massaged, she leaves that part unticked. That way there is no confusion, no grey areas. The client gets the massage they want, everybodys happy.

I work as an LMT at a resort in Honolulu. I can tell you that at our resort we do err on the side of caution, most of us stay away from the stomach and the chest. I massage over the hips and glutes (bottocks)and of course the legs (front and back) and also I do massage the chest along the area where it meets the shoulders and around the collar bone but not the breast tissue itself. The therapist should ask you if there are any areas you would like them to focus on and areas which you would like them to stay away from. Communicate to them what you want, it's your massage. If you're not conforatable with massage over the front of your thighs, stomach or chest then tell them. You should feel comforatable with the massage.

tell them no drape or minimal draping and go ahead and massage everywhere. I've had those where they err on the side of causion. Well that means a lousy massage! Lay back and enjoy...

Sadly, Mindy is correct. those are the only full body massages that I have ever received :(
