"Vitamin" D is a steroid, not a vitamin. Steroids reduce or eliminate inflammation. Inflammation is associated with many, if not all illnesses.
The governement says 30 ng/ml is sufficient. However the groups who have done the research say 50 ng/ml or higher is correct. It is physcially impossible to reach even 30 ng/ml taking 400 i.u. of vitamin D. The RDI must be increased to a much higher level ASAP.
Avoiding the sun was bad advice. Many more people are sick or dead from too little sun. As for me the tiny risk of fatal skin cancers associated with too much sun is nothing comapred to the hugely increased chances of getting cancer and heart disease.
