I am so comforted and at the same time ANNOYED by all the people who have similar problems as me.

I have the feeling of fullness under my rib that's very uncomfortable. It sometimes spreads to my side and back. I have had it for 16 days straight, at all times. The cooresponding spot on my lower back is very tender. I can't lay on my stomach at ALL, it feels like my ribs are poking something. I also cant lay on my left side.

My ribs are also very tender and I'm wondering about floating rib syndrome, or slipped rib.

I have been to the doctors and had bloodwork (CBC), urine tests, and an ultrasound. All came back clear. My doctor is completetly baffled.

I also see a chiropractor regularly.(For those of you who don't believe in the benefits of chiropractic treatment, spare me!) He has been trying to help me as well, and last week got the feeling to go away for almost a full day!

I don't notice it getting worse after meals.

I do not want to go back to the doctors for a colonoscopy or CT or MRI. I basically pay out of pocket and from all the research I've done on this topic (trust me, I've spent hours and days and weeks!) I don't believe they'll tell me anything other than "IBS".

I have come to the conclusion that I am going to TRY eating healthier, and do my best to treat this naturally. Also, I am a very active 21 year old female, my job requires me to be on my feet basically at all times!

Can anyone relate to the feeling when laying on your stomach? It's like somethings pushing on my ribs, or my ribs poking into something.

I do not know what is really going on. I have the same problem now for over a month. My lower left side of my stomach feels full and very tender ( it hurts when touched )I see a full lump. I went to Columbia Presbysterian Hospital in NYC, they conducted CT, blood and urine test and everything came back normal. I visited a private doctor specialized in gastroenterology and ultrasound, sonogram were performed as well and all was OK.

Does anyone have an idea of what is it?

Thanks

I have had the same symptoms as many of you for some time now (althought not as long a some of you...in the hope i would find something have read most of this thread!) and am sorry not to bring you any more clues as to what it is...things i have are:

1) pain in lower left ribs.....I have had 2 broken ribs before many years ago (other side!) and this is nothing like that.....
2) Bloated feeling, extended stomach
3) Hard stools, possibly constipation
4) Pain in the back
5) Pain in the kidney area, mostly on left side; occaisionally on right side.
6) Pain when i lie on my front
7) Excessive tiredness....i could sleep until 1:00pm every day easily
8) Hunger....if i dont eat regularly then i get empty stomach feeling alongside feeling slightly faint.

Things I think it might be:

Not Kidney related, have had urine samples done....ultrasound tomorrow which i can guarantee is going to be clear,so:

1. Had to do a lot of physical lifting work...believe something may be twisted or pulled in my lower spinal area, believ it or not back problems can cause these symptoms.
2. Gluten intolerance. Have read of people with same symptoms stopping intake of Gluten to feel better
3. Sudden inactivity: Had a wisdom tooth out, had chronic infections, possibly bacteria from this travelled into body!??
4. The Sudden inactivity is a vast change from my normal lifestyle which was a LOT of exercise...due to feeling unwell from the above. Could this have caused it?!
5. New Bed...seems stupid, but has this new bed caused back problems and the related problems.
6. Grrrrrrr....I dont know!!!! I would give anything to find out........

Whatever i think it might be or is or isnt, I am encouraged an slightly worried about the no. of people on here with the same problem and how long it has lasted for some of you. I have felt unwell for quite some time now....have put on weight, do not exercise as much as it is a stitch like pain....but when i have, it seems a little better; remember exercise can help back problems etc. so am going to try this and hope the hospital finds something. Despite what people tell you these problems might be things that you dismiss and can suddenly start; so check everything. My diet is good, but i will change it to test anything.:( Here is hoping we all find cures to our problems. Good luck everyone.....

PETE- it seems like our symptoms are practically identical. Let me know how the ultrasound goes. If you think yours is back-related, try a chiropractor. Also, what does it feel like when you lay on your stomach?

Most of you, as far as I can tell, have a similar thing to what I had. I had every scan under the sun to figure it out (upper G.I, Colonoscopy, Abdominal CT, X-Ray) and got nothing. After time, it passed. A few doctors, most of whom were very unhelpful, told it was musculo-skeletal. They were right.
So you all know--mine took a year or so to go away 100%. Every few years, it flares up a little bit, sometimes more than others. Most of you all are talking about the same symptoms.
This is mostly for those who have no bowel problems on top of it. I realize this sucks, but keep hope, try trusting your doctors, and keep your head up. Someone telling you that you are fine when you don't feel fine sucks, but try focusing on it going away, it will, and accept the fact that you aren't okay, but are going to survive this, all by yourself.

Try probiotics or changing your eating habits.

2 weeks ago my lower back was achy and then a few days later it moved to directly under my bottom left ribs. It hurts extremely bad to cough, sneeze, laugh, even lay on my left side. Sometimes its worse than others. I went to the doc and she did a pregnancy test, tested for kidney stones, and a bladder infection. Those came back normal, so she thought i may have cracked my lower rib so she sent me for some X-rays. Those all came back normal. So now she recommended a chiropractor, but I have heard too many horror stories to go. Also since its my lower back/ abdomen I don't quite understand how a chiropractor would help.

I too have the same problems as you all - Sore left ribs and sometimes sore lower back. I went to the doctor 3 times and had various tests done (barium enema, pelvic ultrasound, urine analysis, etc). Each one came back "normal". So at the suggestion of a co-worker, I went to see a Chiropractor. Turns out the problem is excessive tension in my left iliopsoas muscle that requires some adjustments. I've been to 3 appts, and the pain is getting much better. If you have the same pain, and have had negative tests results with your physician, I suggest you try a chiropractor...Worked for me!!

I take 60mg of Dexilant everyday to take care of my acid I am 25 and had a colonoscopy and upper endoscopy in October. I have reflux esophigitis (spelling) ever since 5th grade a have never had this sort of pain before. I have had urine, blood tests, and X-rays all with in the passed week. I don't think its acid... To me it feels like a pulled muscle since I get extremely excruciating pain when I cough, sneeze, blow my nose, laugh....etc

I have an annoying pain in my left side, under the ribs, sore to touch almost like a bruise. I've had this for years and it comes and goes. I've had the scans etc., with no positive results. I have no other symptoms whatsoever, my Doctor is certain its some sort of repetitive muscle strain. I can get some relief by take anti-inflammatory drugs but I can't take these forever. I've now started with a similar effect in my right arm - not on a joint or any particular part, the whole of my arm aches for no reason.
