Full story: Honolulu Star-Bulletin

My neighbor is about 25 years old and smokes, as does his wife. Every morning he goes through a 1/2 hour bout of hacking up what seems like gallons of thick gala-gala and it sounds as though he's going to puke up a lung. I can just imagine what all that smoke is doing to his four kids.
Mybe he's allergic to living next to you.
The government should step in and evict you, so he can live a heathier life.

We can go back inside our own handfull of private bars that choose to cater smokers and leave you alone. When the ban put us on the street in a big herd, that's when it gets shared with you and yours Stumpy.
I have no problem with that. But your "sharing" will not be tolerated no matter whether you're put out on the street or not. That's the real problem smokers have, they refuse to acknowledge that they cannot control their smoke, and have taken the "Ainokea" attitude towards everyone else. Hence more laws. It's a pretty sad situation when a law has to be passed just to impose a certain group to practice common courtesy.

Our leaders let us down. Some health-damaging industry allowed to prosper. The population is the fodder feeding these industries. I see no people flooding the streets demonstrating. I see no heads roll who stupidly or corruptly made dangerous decisions affecting our well-being. Money talks. Money is power. Not that money is evil since so much good is done with it. But Some Evil Business is running the country not governments. What else one can expect?! We are also complicit in our demise and walk to the slaughterhouse.-

You speak of courtesy...and yet you show none.

You seek the right to enter another persons property with the right to demand they change their LEGAL lifestyle of choice on their own land all to suit your selfish desires...and you then have the audacity to call others selfish?

*rolls eyes*

Rather that using your right to freedom of association by going where there are others who are like minded...you back laws that force your will on land that is in no way yours.

What kind of person demands all places cater to their lifestyle of choice by law...on land that is not theirs?

Tell us oh selfish one...when the owner of the property is forced to change their LEGAL lifestyle of choice on their own land...even in their private office all alone...what loss of rights would you quote?

If your kind can now do this to one LEGAL lifestyle of choice...what protects others if you self righteous moral busybodies turn your sights on them?

The most dangerous smoke in the air is the smoke from our rights going up in flames...one by one. Sadly...we have fools such as yourself who come here to cheer.

These smoking bans will probably go down in history as one of the greatest marketing scams ever by using tax exempt political action committees calling themselves "charities". They want to "hurry up and pass the bans" before people find out who is paying the lobbyists pushing for them by using our tax money.
Here's the beginning of the ban movement in the USA.

Here are the instructions from Johnson and Johnsons'(makers of cessation products) RWJ Foundation for their tax exempt political action committees. They are getting enough money from the RWJ Foundation, plus using MY tax money. They aren't getting any more money from me.

I said nothing of the sort. I'm all for you smoking, I just don't want the smoke coming to me. I hope you smoke ten packs a day, in your car with your kids, with the windows rolled up. I hope you smoke wherever you can do so without letting any smoke bother anyone else. Why do you insist on making others smoke along with you? I wish that cigarettes were a nickel a pack again just so you could smoke all day long without stopping. The ONLY thing the law requires is that you keep it to yourself, and you don't like that. Tough. You can't so you must be treated like semi-trained monkeys.

In defense of the Stump - not that he needs my help - I beg to differ. Stumpy definitely has a high level of both courtesy, and respect for property rights. For example, he's specifically stated that he only shoots and kills his neighbors' pet cats and dogs when they *trespass* onto his property. He also makes sure to dispose of the carcasses properly and sanitarily, to save the owners from unnecessary trauma, burial costs, etc.

Now that, to me, is a sign not only of courtesy, but of someone who has the utmost regard for property rights.

(P.S. to Stumpy - Did I do OK? You can thank me later!)
