I have a strange skin-colored bump on my nose that looks like a pimple in it's early stages, only it's been there for around 2 years now. It doesn't hurt or anything, it's just weird that it won't go away. What could it be/what can I do about it?

I have the exact same thing and I cant figure out why I have it. It is skin-colored and it doesn't hurt but I really hate it. People think that I had my nose pierced and took out the stud and it left a scar. That is kind of what it looks like.

I've been waiting to see if anyone would respond, but I've yet to see anyone post anything constructive about these freaking annoying nose bumps. This is the best article I could find on them everyone:

Me too. They are extremely annoying and make my nose look extra shiny. I hate them so much but nothing seems to make them go away.

A bump appeared on my nose. My reaction messed with it then it got infected. Leaving me looking like Rudolph. The bump scabbed up then went away. It came back in the same area a month or 2 later.

I have a bump like this right on the tip of my nose...it is sooo ugly. It doesn't usually hurt unless I pick at it, like I did a few days ago because I got angry and wanted it to go away. Then it bled and scabbed over and hopefully it will go back to being skin color. I was really worried it was basal carcinoma, a form of skin cancer, but this site has calmed my worries a bit. I am still going to my doctor though.

I have the same problem you all listed above. I really really want to get rid of them. I have two on my nose that drive me crazy. About 6 years ago I went to a dermatologist and a plastic surgeon. Both told me that they could be cut off, but it would leave a scar, so they said to not do it. I figure six years later there must be some laser treatment that can get rid of them. If anyone knows a procedure, please post it here.

1 "Angiofibroma -- this is a small nodule or bump that is somewhat firm. Furthermore, these bumps or nodules never go away and seem to grow slowly, but steadily. Some are flesh tone in color, while others are pink to bright red. The color depends on the degree of new blood vessel formation with the red nodules having the greatest degree of blood vessels. These growths are NOT dangerous (not cancer). But, they never seem to respond to any topical or oral treatment. There can be one or two bumps on the nose up to .......... These bumps are formed over a background of inflammation. They are caused by overactivity of fibroblasts and myofibroblasts (a cell type in the facial skin). These bumps are not easily treated by conventional methods. Some derms try to excise them with a scalpel or try to freeze them. The rate of reoccurence with the above listed methods is very high. This is because they do not get down to the origin of the fibroblast proliferation. Treatment with the CO2 laser is the best treatment available. One zap with the laser eliminates these unsightly bumps. Most times they do not reoccur. If they do they are usually one-tenth the original size. I had 4 bumps that would never go away -- CO2 laser performed 2 years ago was the answer. NO sight of them since then. But understand, that you must also try to address the chronic inflammation of the nose, because, this is a perfect environment for these bumps to grow in those patients predisposed for this form of inflamatory growth. Lance, is it possible that those two bumps are angiofibromas? See your derm and ask. Furthermore, you can usually get a free consultation with a plastic surgeon -- they could tell you in a heartbeat." |

ok, i have the same too. I am going to dermatologist this am, with the info. form this page. I will post my findings.
mine started as what i thought was a pimple, but when squeezed nothing. it actually acted like a wart that i had when younger - bleed forever if you cut it off. the nose thing would take forever to clot too, shower would start it bleeding after cut it off. had it for about 4 years now and it has tripled in size. about the size of the end of a pencil eraser. enough is enough - appointment in morning. |

Hi All. Just wanted to let you all know I went to a dermatologist today. He said these can be treated one of two ways: use the laser to try and zap the capillaries, or cut it off with the heated surgical knife. He recommended going with the laser, and if it didn't take, go with the knife. I agreed since there is a higher risk of scaring with a knife.
We did the laser and so far i'm seeing mild improvements (got it done an hour ago). He said the full results won't really be seen for 2-3 weeks. So I will keep you all posted on the progres. |
