I had to deal with this for more than six months and couldn't find anything that would cure it. Vaseline worked better than anything. But then I read about wet wipes irritating skin. I use wet wipes all the time just to keep clean. I have an active sex life so I always like to stay clean and fresh. lol. Anyway I stopped using them just to see if that was it and guess what within a couple days syptoms started going away and I am completely back to normal now and have been for 7 months. I just wanted to pass this on, hoping it would help someone. Don't wish that shit on anyone. Good luck!

This may sound slightly ridiculous, but I am trying a strip of Gladwrap around that area, cover it with cream, and then a condom, to avoid tearing the skin. I worry that pain will become a psychological barrier. Good Luck Everyone.

Guys, I share this extremely frustrating and debilitating condition. Its a topic now widely discussed in many languages, and the consensus is that it is not herpes, or any known STD. I found that a strong Iodine tincture (water based!)fairly quickly settles and overcomes the skin condition. However, it does not fix the underlying problem, ie the tearing of the skin every time one attempts to have intercourse. The closest answer in medical literature is a description of "Reiters Syndrome", in which that particular part of the penis becomes prone to small mucuous ulcers, which leave the skin perforated. A practical solution may be to protect the penis with lots of cream under a rigid condom, once the cracks or ulcers have healed. But I know we all need a more natural solution.
HOLY CRAP!!! I think you may be on to something.

I'm only 32 and don't have any arthritis that i know of, BUT one of the symptoms definitely says penis sores. And it says one of the treatments for the Reiters Syndrome is "folic acid antagonists".

The reason that is significant is I didn't have this problem till my wife got pregnant. All through the pregnancy sex was horrificly painful. Ok, prenatals have a TON of folic acid in them. It's essential to prenatal development. After she had the baby, my condition slowly went away. Well, a half year later the problem started again, at the same time she started to feel sick. And even before she started taking them again, I think the uterus probably automatically concentrates folic acid down there. Pregnant again = vagina melting penis again.

Whether or not I have Reiters Syndrome aside...I think I'm having a reaction to folic acid!!

I develop a tear in the thin skin just under the head of my penis, during sexual contact.
Visited my family Dr and he recommend NU-SKIN..I think he is a complete IDIOT or just trying to subject me to a hell of a lot of pain. After reading 437 messages on this forum, Its easy to see that there has been alot of different suggestions.
I do have enough smarts to know that CORTISONES thin the skin - I hope everyone is fully clear not to use them on thin skin!
Will try the following:
A&D Ointment
Neosporin
Lamsil AT
Bag Balm
Abreva
Releev
Altabax - prescribed by dermatologist for cuts
Campho-Phenique
Will report back and let you know what I have found actually helped the healing!
After posting this: I have found after around a week that Campho-Phenique is starting to work. Of course it envolves "O" and I mean "ZERO" sex or the skin will tear right back open!
If there is anyone else with small tears, give it a try and post your findings. Thanks

I had this issue for a few months, but after I used the walmart brand miconazole 2% for about a week, the condition is completely gone. It itched a little for the first couple of days, but it was totally worth it!

my itch and tears are long gone but the damage from the steroid cream remains, my skin is thin and doesn't fully repair so when i wack off or have sex it gets red and starts burning if i do it too much. I've started using the creams i've been suggested and i've noticed some improvement, its too soon to say anything

The rip finally went away but as all of you I too have the redness and cracked skin on the other side of my penis head..My girl found an interesting diagnosis online..It could be yeast..So im trying to obstain from any kind of alcohol and take acidolphis.also eating yougurt..I even tried soaking it in yogurt for a week..seemed to help some but i quit using it..Have any of you hearedf it could be yeast related?..Btw..used olive oil for a while and it helped somewhat but havent tried that in a few months.

Another one to chime in; problem has existed for 14 months. Worst 14 months of my entire life.

Me: 25 yr old white male

Symptoms: No blood, no cuts, no bumps; no discharge - just extreme "rawness" after ejacualation/sexual activity, and very "red", very irritated.*Irritation is specifically on the DORSAL of the penis, ie the 'top' when looking down. The skin (especially on the head) feels extremely 'thin'. The skin on my shaft seems to have lost elasticity, is thin, and much, much more 'wrinkly' when flacid. The only thing that helps is zero sexual activity and zero masturbation.

Started when I had unprotected sex w. GF of 6 months for the first time. She constantly suffered from Uriniary Tract Infections (UTI's) at the time. Irritation started a few days later. The 'elasticity' of the penile skin seems gone - it takes a week to recover from one act of masturbation, and the skin just seems much weaker.

I have seen: three general practitions, two dermatologists, and two urologists.

Treament(s):
7 urine samples given (negative)
2 blood samples given (negative)
I have had an an MRI of penile area and nerves connected to it. I've ingested an anti fungal pill (once a week for three weeks) and tried an anti-fungal pill + anti fungal cream.(no results)

I have tried a round of anti-biotics (no results)

I have tried a light & than a stronger dose steroid cream -(no results) AND DO NOT TRY THIS! I believe it may have made my problems much worse.

My urologist wants to do a biopsy but I am scared that my pecker will never recover - that is expensive real-estate down there, and if my primarily problem is that the penis cannot recover from SEX, how will it recover from surgery?

So now I am on anti-depressents which focus on my nerves; because my doctors don't really "see" a problem they think the nerves are messed up, so I am taking 'amitriptyline hcl' to suppress the nerve irritation. So far, no results.

Next I'm going to get into accupuncture. It's good to read that so many other people have similar problems, but honestly this problem has ruined every facet of my entire existence. I'm afraid to surf or go to the gym because of chaffing, so I'm out of shape. I've end three great relationships in the last 14 mo's because I can't have sex more than once a week. I never knew what depressed was until this happened to me./emo rant off

Get Fluconazole (Flucos 200)You can buy it online and it worked for me. One pill a day for 7 days. Not exactly sure what it is but to be honest I didn't care. I read about it online and had to try something. Creams didn't work. I had this same problem for almost a year. I was willing to try anything. No side effects for me. Didn't even realize I was taking anything. After 3 days symptoms started to disappear. I haven't had any problems or showed any symptoms for 5 months. I am back! You guys can do your own research on this drug but it worked for me. Goodluck.

The skin on the underside of my penis, the area where it is wrinkled when flaccid, has been irritated off . It may have started during sex due to some friction one time, or maybe when running and rubbing against my underpants. either way, it's clearly a SKIN issue, and i've already had it checked out by my doctor, and he said essentially it's just a skin issue that "should heal," NOT an STD, so i'm not looking for that alternative diagnosis.

It basically is just a little red patch that is like removed soft patch skin. This is very small. Sometimes there is just one, sometimes up to three. THey never really heal 100%. I've tried simply abstaining from sex for a while, but it hasn't helped really. It might be a litlte better one day or worse the next, but it seems to be unrelated to sexual activity. Maybe it's because simply getting an erection, which stretches out the skin, might be preventing it from healing completely, and it's kinda hard to prevent that...

hey everyone. i've had this going on for about a year and a half now, and like all of you, Ii've been to countless doctors. is been the biggest stress in my life to date. i've made a little progress and i thought i would at least share with you guys because it has brought me some relief, and may be the step to recovery.
first of all, my current thought is that this is a result of pelvic floor dysfunction (as in, the muscles of your pelvis not working properly and causing spasms). i know this is a skin issue, but my problems (and sounds like similar cases for others) started when i first started having sex. i had some rough sex because i didn't know much about lube and i really strained myself in the act for weeks. eventually one morning i woke up with a sharp pain on my penis and soon after developed this skin problem we all seem to have.
Now, I realized eventually that there was a connection with a lot of pain I was having with my pelvic muscles, my libido, all these other things that scared the shit out of me. I did a lot of research and was lucky enough to have a mom in the medical practice to clue me into "pelvic floor dysfunction". basically, when your pelvis becomes hyper irritated, it triggers a HUGE number of problems, one of which being skin irritation due to a cut off of bloody supply to and from the penis. Pelvic floor dysfunction is very commonly treated in women, but a fairly new field in men (probably because we don't want to talk about it). I did a lot of research, and in a book called "Heal Pelvic Pain" by Amy Stein, the correlation between this problem and skin irritation in women is stated like this:
"The pain, they explained, was a result of the muscles having tightened and shortened. The tightening had decreased the blood flow and therefore the supply of oxygen to the affected muscles; as a result, lactic acid built up, irritating the nerves that pass through the muscles. As the brain perceives pain as being located in the end organ reached by the affected nerve, the person felt vulvar pain. In addition, the irritation of the nerve typically gives rise to an inflammation that produces redness and swelling, like the pain, show up in the "endpoint" organ reached by the irritated nurve--namely, the vulva."
this is obviously about women, but it does likely correlate to men and the penis rather the vulva. you need to treat yourself for pelvic pain and you will see improvements. THE REASON WE FEEL BETTER WHEN WE DON'T MASTURBATE OR HAVE SEX for a while is because having an orgasm is a MASSIVE contraction of your pelvic muscles that are already irritated. This sets off the chain all over again.
I have been doing a lot of home therapy as well as physical therapy at a hospital. also, covering your penis will help the healing process because the hyperirriation of your penis only makes things worse. I use this product throughout the day to dull the pain: http://manhood.mb.ca/
ABOVE ALL: YOU NEED TO TREAT YOURSELF FOR PELVIC PAIN

Ok my situation is like this...
I'm twenty six, never had an STD test so I went a month ago just to be safe, results came back clean! Was stupid and got a bj from a stranger like a week ago.
Now for years I've always had either rough or dry skin from jerking off, or the occasional red mark, but for the last week I've had a burning / itching on the dorsal of my penis. Ive had this feeling before, it would last a few hours and go away but now it's last a week! I've noticed the cut every talks about and some redness.
I'm worried I caught an STD a week after my STD test!

So my wife tried to give me oral last night. It ended up with me getting off, but the pain when my mangravy hits the tears is damn near unbearable. So bad in fact that I had a nightmare last night that it hurt so bad that I cut it off, and was carrying it around with me to hold up to the spot it came off at when I had to pee.

I don't know how much more of this I can take before I start to suffer psychologically if I havn't already.

Creepiest part is I remember being happy in the nightmare when i did it. It only got horrific when my unit started to bloat and decompose in my hand as I carried it around.
