Any ideas? Not itchy, not red, not sensitive to touch. Is easy to push on , feels like a fluid filled sack.

Hey Lumpy,
I am 44 and have two lumps in the same locations. Not itchy, not red, not sensitive to touch. Is easy to push on , feels like a fluid filled sack. I also have one on my right lower leg outside the shin right before my ankle. It has been there since I was 11 years old and has gotten bigger. When I stand it is about the size of a quarter and protudes about 1/4 inch. I do not know what they are, but they have never caused me any pain.

I have done alot of research into these lumps and I agree with Rebecca's comment, alot of your lumps sound like erythma nodosum. My daughter however has developed cyst like lumps on front of her lower leg, painless at first then they spread and swelling occurred around one in particular, now she has two more lower down on her leg and they are painful to touch. This has happened over a 2-3 month period. She has no discolouration to her skin though unlike others noted on here. She is awaiting a scan at present. Should be in next week or so. Will let you know the outcome.

I am 27 and about 12 weeks pregnant. I also have red/pink lumps on my lower legs. The biggest and most annoying one is about the size of of a half dollar above my inner left ankle. The rest vary in from the size of an eraser to maybe a nickle. They are slightly itchy and painful if I put pressure on them. They are only slightly raised off the skin and not very visable unless I look under a bright light or sunlight. The research I've done makes me think it is erythema nodosum REBECCA STRECKER speaks of. She says that there are many triggers/causes. I believe the most likely possible causes of mine would be stress, fatique, or maybe increased levels of estregen since a few posts mention being on birth control. I am going to check out her website and see my doctor to make sure it isn't something much more serious like cancer or blood clots. I would advise that anyone else does the same.

erythemia nodosa - I was treated last year for exact symtoms. They used clobetisol cream - said it was from inflammation in my system - not worrisome. Took about 3 wks - no recurrence. Good luck.

Since after I gave birth to my daughter 7 years ago, red, bruise like bumps began to appear on my legs, especially during the summer months. The first year, it happen two to three times. The next year I decided to go to the doctor. My doctor beleived it was due to my birth control. I went off of it for 3 months, but they still came. She was puzzled. Every year I began getting them on my lower legs and sometimes one or two on my thighs. One time I had one right on my wrist bone. It was very painful. A second time I mentioned this to my doctor for my annual checkup. She then checked for Rheumatoid Arthritis. I did not have that, she then wanted to take a biopsy of one. That never happened. Last year I started to get them more. I noticed after I had a bruise, one would appear on the bruise once it was gone. They also came in the winter. I also thought it may be sometimes when I'm on my feet alot. I am not sure. Currently I have 23 on my left leg and 30 on my right leg. They are all over big and small. They hurt and it seems more have appeared. I also currently have about 3 each on each arm. This is the most I have ever had at one time. My legs look terrible. They are on my ankles, shins, calves and upper leg. They are painful. It is good to know that many others have these nodules on their legs. I am 30 and have been experiencing them since I was 24.

I think I have the same thing everyone is talking about. I just got back from the doctor and they are running tests on myself as well. Something with changes in our body, could be medication change or maybe Pregnancy even??? I guess I will find out in a couple days from the results.

I've got what some of you described... I'll wake up with mosquito-like bites when I went to bed with none. They swell up & get hard, bruise all around them, especially along veins. The veins are extremely prominent around the ones on my thighs. I also will get spotty bruises along major veins in my legs without any sign of broken skin. Both of my legs are covered in bruises and now it is spreading to my hips, bum, & back. I am 18, 5'3", 105 lbs, borderline anemic, occasional smoker. I'm not on birth control & never have been. The doctors are very confused & the only thing they have found thus far is extremely low carbon dioxide in the blood, but don't have a clue why. I also have fatigue, dizziness, migraine, and frequent pins-and-needles in fingers and toes. I don't know if it has anything to do with this, but a few months back I had a terrible pain in my chest; felt like my heart was in a vice. This happened three different times over two months or so but passed it off as extreme heartburn. Your thoughts? I'm pretty desperate here, and don't know how long this is going to go on spreading all over my body. Help?

About 3 days ago I noticed a lump in my lower leg on my calf under the skin. It is hard, round, sometimes red, 1/4" and sensitive to touch. Today I just noticed another lump on my other calf. They seem to be more prominent at night. Has anyone ever experience this before?
Hi, I found my self w/ the same situation, I looked it up on line, because I went to the my Dr. I was tested for everything Lupos, etc. and everthing came out negative I found the name of Illnes is called (Erythema Nodosum) Google it you will be able to see pics and read about it, which I belive is the same descrpition you are providing, Irritable bowel syndrome which I read is one of the causes. I hope I was to some help. Good Luck!!

I am not a doctor; however, my husband died from blood clots in his leg that went to his lung. Please see a doctor immediately!

Since February, 2006, we have experienced itching especially at night. I have noticed almost clear, red, and black "things" on our skin, the size of a pinpoint. I have seen them in my 3 year olds stools and in our hair when we wash it. We are itching in our faces (eyelids, around mouth, behind earlobes), arms, between fingers, behind shoulder blades, upper buttocks)...they also bite hard. Our 8 year old wakes up with mosquitoe like bites on his legs. We have had an exterminator three times and have even moved but are still experiencing these things that seem to fly into your face from wooden cabinets, paper...What is this and how do we treat it? PLEASE HELP US.
Sounds like bedbugs. Look them up, they're very difficult to get rid of.

Yes, it may be from the estrogen..ask your gyno or family doctor. I forget the specific name, but your body does not brake down the extra estrogen. I went through this in high school and had to come off the pill. Now I am pregnant and I having the red bumps in my shins again from the estrogen. The doctors do not seem concerned, but for your sake I would still ask them.

i also have a few lower-leg lumps - one close to my ankle which is pinkish-red and the most painful (only if i touch it), and two lesser ones on my other mid-upper calf. i noticed the ankle one arise only last week, where as i have had a minor, non-red non-painful small lump where one of my other ones are for at least a year. it's never been bothersom so i never did anything about it.
in the past i've briefly tried depo-prevera and the patch, but i have been birth control-free for over a year now. i have been using a different (low qualitiy) razor since i'm travelling, so i was thinking this could be an ingrown hair but it doesn't seem like it. anyway all of the lumps are hard to the touch, not like there is fluid in them (they are fairly close to the bone).
the other weird thing is that, i sometimes get hive-like things on my feet (and i've had them on my calf once or twice). i don't have them now, they usually appear when I go to the beach(!)... yeah, i guess i'm allergic to sand?! MD could not explain it. but those don't explain these weird leg lumps. however the EN diagnosis seems pretty reasonable (i went to that link that's on this forum).

They are hard and sore to the touch. They range in size from a nikel to a quarter. My doctor said it is like I have had truama to my leg. I have never had any though. He said there is no treatment. he told me to use a heating pad twice a day. I have never smoked or used birth control. The doctor never gave me a name. I cannot remember it if he did. I just saw him May of 07.
