It is probably something called erythema nodosum, it is not dangerous but has been linked with ibs.

Let me give you a little background. I am a 23 year old female. Currently on birth control(cesia) and I smoke cigarretes. I have a 7 month old son. Since about 12 weeks post pardom I have been having abnominal cramping and constipation. I was diagnosed with Irritable bowel syndrome. About 3 days ago I noticed a lump in my lower leg on my calf under the skin. It is hard, round, sometimes red, 1/4" and sensitive to touch. Today I just noticed another lump on my other calf. They seem to be more prominent at night. Has anyone ever experience this before?

I have this painful bump under my skin on my left inner thigh between the crease of my leg and it also touching my lip but not close to my inner lips. I'm afraid it will spread. sitting really hurts, I can't sleep, it stings, and i don't see any white heads or anything but just this golf ball is so annoying and painful. its hard too. if push down it fells hard not soft. if I touch it it hurts, if any clothing material touches it-it hurts, I wonder if i used a bad shaver. i started getting this in the last possibly two days. I've been itchy on my skin before this bump(not in my vagina) like lower back, outer butt cheeks, and inner creases where that disgusting red painful bump is having it's own f****** field day. pain makes me very b***** so cut my some slack. I was recommended betadine. what do you think? HELP!

I have a painless lump under my skin on my calf muscle. It is not red, not itchy, not bruised. Sometimes I have severe toe cramping/stiffness and mild numbness in my leg/foot. The cramping and numbness don't occur at the same time. Any ideas?

Since February, 2006, we have experienced itching especially at night. I have noticed almost clear, red, and black "things" on our skin, the size of a pinpoint. I have seen them in my 3 year olds stools and in our hair when we wash it. We are itching in our faces (eyelids, around mouth, behind earlobes), arms, between fingers, behind shoulder blades, upper buttocks)...they also bite hard. Our 8 year old wakes up with mosquitoe like bites on his legs. We have had an exterminator three times and have even moved but are still experiencing these things that seem to fly into your face from wooden cabinets, paper...What is this and how do we treat it? PLEASE HELP US.
Well from what it sounds like you have bedbugs. They hide in the sheets and in your bed. I'd reccommend getting new sheets and a new matress as this may solve your problem.

I have a lump on my right leg approx 1 inch from my shin. It is painful when touched like a bruise, but without any discoloration at all. I don't recall bumping my leg. It is the size of a half dollar. It has been there for about six days and I am on BC pills(seasonique). I am concerned and confused and not sure what it could be. At first I could only feel it under my skin and now I can see it protruding. Any ideas? Please respond.
I have the same thing in a few places they get very warm to the touch and hurt, have you found out what they are?

I am a 41 year old woman. I have a sore lump about the size of a grape under the skin on the front of my upper left thigh. I do not take birth control, it has recently become sore about three inches around it. I have had several ”unsolved” medical issues in the last two years and just don't care to do anymore doctoring. I would love any advice you all may have to offer.

I went to the Doctor and she said I did NOT have a clot, the area behind my knee was throbbing and hurting so I went to ER and they did an ultrasound {it hurt when they pressed down on the thigh veins is it supposed to hurt so bad when they press down so hard??} they said I had a 2.5 centimeter blood clot in the lesser vein and too elevate it over my head, take an asprin a day and warm compresses, I am so scared this is going to lodge in my heart, lungs or brain, they said the chance is small but the lesser and greater veins meet under the knee so that is where the clot is at, can it jump from one vein to another? is superficial deadly??

I am sorry to sound so scared and all these questions, I am supposed to follow-up with Doctor but she said I did not have a clot so I do not trust her anymore, shoud I go back to ER for another ultrasound? and if yes when? or wait awhile to see if it heals and then just go to a diagnostic clinic for ultrasound? I had a blood clot years ago when I was young and on the pill and took blood thinners in my other leg, I am not on the pill, I smoke lightly, but I fell asleep sitting up one night and my leg was like "twisted" behind my body I think that is when it happened. If anyone can help please write me back. thank you.

Beg of Aug10 our very cold office due to broken airconditioning made
both leg, inside bone area of my top ankle burn and hurt like crazy. I
found out i have small jelly like lumps under the skin in those areas
and they are causing the burning and throbbing sensation. It has been
burning and throbbing ever since but there are no signs or red mark from
the outside. I also found both leg has the same small lumps going on a
continues straight line on the bone inner area of my leg up to just
below the knee and they are very sensitive to the touch. I am 47 yrs
old and the only medication I have been taking is Enalapril Vasotec 5mg
medicine since I was 28 yrs old due to hereditary high blood pressure.
I have no idea what cause these lumps to appear, why they are sensitive
or have burning sensation. Have they been there before and I only
noticed it when they started hurting and giving me the burning
sensation. I have a doctor`s appointment coming up will ask for more
tests until I can role out major issues. thank you

y daughter is 16, andin the past 2-3 weeks has developed small hard bumps under the skin on her legs. They are tender to touch and red and itch at times. She has had a change in her diet and is taking metabolism pills. The doctor was stumped and did not know what it could be. She did put my daughter on a skin antibiotic thinking that these could be infections from cuts while shaving. But she was not sure. We also took a strep throat test and blood test and both came back normal.

I am very disconcerted that I have had to wait 2 weeks for a follow-up. I noticed a big soft lump on my other leg and freaked out and went to urgent care, the Dr. there was very nice he said it was a "lipoma" anotherwards a fatty tumor and alot of women get them especially in the thigh area, I was of course relieved but still having thoughts about the first time I went and the lady Doc said it was not a clot and it was! My leg with the phlebits seems a little better, a little achy and throbby but that could mean I am concentrating on it too much, and I feel I have lacked good medical care except for the ER but you cannnot run there every minute can you? I just hope its gone and done with.

Does anyone else out there ever get very depressed regarding thier health? like panic attacks or anxiety or fear of illness and death? I so do NOT want to be this way, I take a low dosage tranqulizer and see a therapist every few months but the fear is so high its like its cancelling out the med, also in peri-menopause, just a basket case right! I pray with time I will heal in all ways.

Im an extremely athletic female. I've noticed theses bumps on my shins that are slightly bigger then a pea. I first noticed them a few months ago, and ever since then i just seem to keep getting more. I have three on one shin and 1 on the other. Sometimes they are red, and just look as if my shin is swollen there. They are painful to touch too. I don't know what they are, and am looking for answers. Can anyone help me?

I still have these hard lumps every winter since I went on birth control. I went to the doctor and he said it was most likely the cause.

My Fiancee (21) recently developed strange bumps on his hands and feet, they are mainly red with black dots under the skin at the head of the bump. They are very sensitive to touch, but there doesnt appear to be any pus under the skin except for the ones that have been irritated by scratching. We've been to the doctor and curretly are waiting on bloodwork results, but im nervous as the doctors (the 4 that saw him) have no clue what it could possibly be. He's recently started taking Cipralex (anti-depressant) so I'm wondering if it might just be an allergic reacation to that, but I havent found any inames online that come close to matching what he has... help?
Sounds like common warts. Hands and feet are very suceptible to them
Hope this helps

You most likely just have an ingrown hair. Which will cause a red bump. It generally looks like a pimple. I normaly get them when I shave down there. If it is not to big, I put a zit cream on them and it usually work and helps dry it up, as it is filled with puss. If it is really big, i will actually try to pop mine, as that gives immediate relief.

I run track 5 days a week. Last season I had shin splints in both legs. I noticed soon after my season that i had a bump underneath my skin, on the side of my lower right shin. It is NOT red or itchy, it is big and when i touch it, it occasionally hurts. When I work out, certain exercises tend to hurt it as well. I got an Ultrasound on my leg to see if anything showed, when the results came back there was nothing showing and no one knows what it is, not even my coaches. It only shows when i flex it a certain way, or when i stand a certain way as well. I am not on Birth control, I take a face medicine, but i had this bump before i began taking the medicine. I would really like to know if anyone has had this condition. I am desperate to be able to run without pain in my leg. Thanks(:

My son had a black bump on his leg that grew over time. One morning after showering he came to me with a thick grayish black puss oozing from this bump. I began to squeeze the bump as more and more of this grayish black puss continued to oozed from it. I know sounds gross right. If you think that was gross listen to this, after all of the puss was out a pod or egg like shell came out. If anyone has experienced anything like this, please respond. Thanks.
