For the past few years I have developed bulging, unsightly veins on my forehead and temple area. At first only one side developed this but now it looks as though they're starting to bulge on the other side too.
Is there a cosmetic or derm procedure that I can get that will redude the appearance of these veins? What is it? How is it done? Thanks! |

*sigh* I guess this must be an untreatable condition.

Hi there
I have heard you can get treatment form a laser center or dermatologist. Good Luck |

Thanks. At least someone answered. I appreciate the info.

John - I too have a similar problem with the veins in question (superficial temporal veins) and at times appear to have 2 worms wiggling their way down my temples. I play a lot of sport and can accept them being pronounced at times of energetic exercise when my heart rate is up but they are bad on other occasions such as exposure to strong sunlight and after a few alcoholic drinks. As you have probably done I have done extensive research on the net but this problem is not covered by vein clinics who seem to concentrate on varicose, spider and hand veins.
I gather the problem isn't the veins themselves but its the thinning of the sub fat layer under the skin which makes them more visible. Its getting to the stage now where the condition is affecting my social life - has anyone heard of any treatment? |

I have the exact same problem, I searched around and I think the best thing to try is to gain as much weight as you can, and they should reduce in visibility, I'm trying to do this even though it isn't working, I'm eating like crazy and still gaining tiny amounts of weight, been doing this for 2 months.

Well i have tried to gain weight, haven't gained much but its not really working right now. Laser treatment can be used to reduce the visibility of them i think, but i don't know exact details.

Hey all. I just noticed a prominent vein on the left side of my temple. It came all of a sudden, and strangely after I quit exercising regularly. I've already visited a dermatologist about it and apparently it's possible to operate on such veins. However, the procedure is messy and used as a last resort. He recommended I wait a few months for it to disappear (I have a feeling he was avoiding operating, which I wanted).
Anyone else know corrections to this problem? Hope this helped. |

Hi all - a follow up to my August post - both veins seem to be getting more prominent by the month. I guess I'm not unique and this is probably happening to you all. I've yet to find any surgeons in the UK that advertise a service to deal with these particular veins so I seem to be wearing my baseball cap a bit more often!!
Lets keep this thread going until we can find some sort of solution cheers - Graham |
