Hi! I'm 26 and i have this really itchy problem on the areola of my nipple. I went to a physician and she said it's just a rash from the bra i'm wearing. After 3 months now, my areola is still itchy and flaky sometimes and the rash tends to give discoloration on my nipple giving it a darker color. I've been treating this with Tioconazole trosyd but it won't go away. Please help!

I went to the OB/GYN with the same problem, he stated that it may be a fungus and could be from the hormone imbalance and also could be from my husbands mouth (a viral infection passed on) like when he had a cold or something.

you can also try seeing a dermatologist, just to be on the safe side.

Hi, I'm a little late in responding to this post but I have something similar only it started on my neck, then on my breast and then under my arms. I have dark itchy skin patches on those areas. At first it was just one or two large patches but now it's like 5-6 large patches and a few small patches. They itch like crazy and I try not to scratch them because I feel they may worsen. Sometimes when I do scratch them, they turn from a like dark brown color to a white almost ashy color and the ashiness (if that's a word) is confined to the spot that I scratched, even if I scratch the entire area. It's almost weird and right now I can't afford to go to the doctor. I've been doing some research and can't seem to find anything that resembles my condition. I was wondering if someone out there was exeperiencing similiar symptoms and could perhaps point me in the right direction.

All comments and replies are appreciated...

Thanks!!!

I think I've found out what I have...eczema...after reading information on the different types of common skin problems, the symptoms associated with eczema pretty much match my symptoms to a T

I had the same thing and also got really worried about it - turned out I was wearing the wrong size bra! my bra wasn't uncomfortable or crazily the wrong size, but this has made all the difference.

Yes, I have it too. I got just a dry patch that was flaky below my breasts and in the past 6 yrs it has spread to armpits, legs, neck, and many other places. It really began to spread while I was pregnant with my first in the summertime, and my doctor told me it was a type of skin fungus. He told me that I was probably allergic to my own sweat. It is really embarrassing, but not only women have this problem. My uncle and a few cousins also have it. My doctor told me to try selsun blue or any type of good dandruff shampoo and apply it like lotion and let it set a couple of hrs, then wash off. Just like he said...it didnt make it go away but it helped with itching and it made it fade somewhat.

TLS24 and Everyone,

Scroll back and look at the comments about tinea versicolor that sanDO1 left on pg 1 of this website. They are very helpful!

Thank you so much SanD01. I have had a red itchy patch on both of my breasts (primarily on the right breast under the nipple) for a few months now. I am yet to get it checked out, so I appreciate the information. Also, thanks to all for posting here.

I also have some itching near the nipple of my right breast (on the upper part) since last year. My OB-Gyne thought nothing of it and said to use some corticosteroid creams. i did. It did went away for a while and now it's back and it's on both breast! I changed my bra from nylon to cotton, to loose to almost nothing, doesn't help at all! I changed my bra twice a day! The skin doesn't change color but there is some small patch that you could see. PLEASE TELL ME WHAT IS IT?

i have developed dry red rash on my left breast. Along with it there are little brown spots appearing. What does this mean, and what diagnosis should I be asking my doctor?

I had the same dry skin problem to around my nipple but then my sister said to put lotion on it and the dry skin went away after a couple of days of using it. Oh yea I used Lubriderm for normal to dry skin.

I've had these small pink dry-looking spots under my bra line for over a year now. I keep going to the dermatologist and she keeps saying its just really psoriasis and gives me some topical steroid stuff to put on it... I thought it was getting better but now it looks like its getting worse and it's pissing me off!
I think I'm going to try a fungal cream or something, just to make sure.
