I have had this for about a month. PCP gave me a script for claritin (which did nothing) and sent me on way. It does not itch at all and is located mostly on my inner upper thighs, inner upper and lower arms, chest, stomach and back. There is none on my face, neck, hands, feet, genital area, shins, or outer lower arms. Through research, I can only come up with Pityriasis Rosea as a non-itchy rash. Any ideas? Here is a pic of my upper thighs:

nikki, I have exactly the same as you, except not in the thighs....yet. I never had rashes in my life. I'm an old person but very healthy and never take any medicines. It doesn't itch and doesn't hurt. The 2 dermatologists I saw listened to and dismissed it saying something I ate or nervousness, etc...gosh, this much I knew myself, didn't need a DOCTOR to tell me. You've evidently done more research than a physician!

Also only once in my life I had a strange thing but disappeared completely in a few days without doing anything: I came home from a very energetic folk dancing in the park in an extremely hot and sunny day...to find my 2 legs from my ankles to just before the knees and all around large, deep red patches. I was shocked as I never had anything on skin before! The dermatologist didn't know what it was and gave me some sample creams, etc. which I didn't use. I wonder if this is from the same thing as you and I have now?

I hope we get more positive and helpful answers than mine...:o) delaflor

i have the exact same thing on my inner thighs. Please respond if you found out what it is. I know its not a heat rash because i have not done any really harsh physical activity for a while. I am in my early 20s.

nikki, I looked at your picture and I think my 5-year old daughter has the same thing. Hers is on her legs (both upper and lower) and buttox but so far has not spread any further. It started about a week and a half ago and was just a few "dots" but now has spread into looking like pimples all over. They seem to start bigger and get smaller, did yours do that? Keep me updated if you find out anything, my daughter's doctor was clueless.

Just got a diagnosis from my pediatrician. My daughter has Henoch-Schonlein purpura (HSP), a non-itchy rash caused by inflamed blood vessels usually a result of an upper respiratory virus or strep-throat. If you search the name you will find lots of info, hopefully it will be helpful.

hey harland, I was told that it was just exzema, basically dry skin, and would go away and it did, you just have to put baby oil or some such moisturizer on right after exiting the shower. hope it helps!

I've suffered from a rash (individual flat spots that can then later merge into a wider red patch)for the last few years now - usually effects inner arms, stomach, chest, back, inner thighs and neck. It used to happen every now and then and now seems to happen more and more frequently. It lasts for 24 hours is usually not itchy and then goes, but the last time (now) has lasted for 3 days and has been the worst I've had it - I've even experienced some very mild itchiness/soreness but still no major discomfort. I thought it might be stress related due to my job but the first doc said it was viral. The second doc said it was an allergic reaction and I did an allergy test that showed I wasn't allergic to anything so he said it must therefore be an intolerance to foodstuffs! I'm yet to discover what this is as my diet doesn't particularly change. Any ideas?

you probibly do have
Pityriasis Rosea
which is an acute exanthematous eruption with ditinctive morphology and often with a characteristic selflimited course. forst a single (primary, or herald) plaque lesion develops, usually on the trunk, and 1-2 weeks later generalized secondary eruption develops in a typical ditribution pattern; the entire process remits sontanously in 6 weeks.
you can spread this from skin to skin
so try to keep it covered
hot showers makes it worse
it may feel good, but try to stick with some colder showers for now
because its a virus there is no cure, you will just have to let it take its corse,
but they do offer medicine that help limit spreading
hope this helped,

Okay, I searched this because I wanted to know ahead of time what it was and what I could before I go see my doctor. I got these tiny red spots with little dots on them that aren't bumpy, itchy, or sore. It started right under my armpit, came around to the side of my man-pecks, appeared on the back of my upper thigh, which has scattered, and also started on the side's of my lower back, and has risen to the top towards the middle. It looks disgusting when I raise my arms, and/or have my shirt off! I seriously want this to go away, I know a person who has the same thing you show in the picture, but those are more blemished than mine, which are pretty discretely dotted and red, with SOME of the red spots seen in the picture...I'd love to know what the heck this is and if I'm spreading it to all of my friend's by giving them hugs or whatnot!

I just got back from a holiday in vegas and what started out as little bumps on my elbows has now appeared on my outer thighs and its spreading. They're a cluster of lumpy red bumps (not very attractive} I'm 30 and hoping its not contagious as I have a 1yr old to look after too. Am going to try and see the doc tomorrow to get advice. Thinking it might be from de hydration so going to up my fluid intake.

I have had some of the same issues mentioned above. My rasn started all over my back and then spread to areas of my stomach. It doesn't itch, burn or blister. My Dr. indicated that it was due to several infected hair follicals for which he had no further explaination. If I didn't ask my husband to look at my back every day I wouldn't even know it was there. I have been perscribed an atibiotic, but I hate taking medicine for something that is so obscure and vague.I have had this now for over two weeks and there is no progress in change.
