1 The healthcare bill, pushed by President Obama and the Democrats, would require everyone to buy health insurance or pay a fine for failing to do so. People could keep their current insurance if their employer provided it and agreed to continue it. Insurance companies would be required to insure all applicants regardless of pre-existing conditions. People would be offered subsidies to buy insurance if their household incomes were below $70,000 a year and if their insurance cost more than 8% of their incomes ($5600 for a $70,000 a year family). The program will cost one trillion over ten years. This plain vanilla rendition of what Obama proposes had a startling impact! People under 30 now said they opposed the bill by 43-45 - a mega-shift of 30 points! ALL other demographic age groups Oppose the Health Bill. |

1 You are comparing apples and oranges. Hawaii has a very good health insurance law. It requires everyone who works 20 hours or more to be insured through the employers. This should be part of the federal law. We require mandatory payment of taxes, whether payroll or social security. Mandatory health insurance contributes to a better society. |

1 You've been watching FOX and getting your facts wrong. Hawaii's mandatory health insurance law works very well. As far as polls, the most recent ones show that the public supports health care reform. |

It's really funny that all that healthcare reform talk never includes reforming the administrations of our local hospitals by enforcing the violations of our federal labor laws and labor union's failure to hold the employer to their contract.

In essence, being forced to pay for health care makes this just another tax well-meaning Democrats want to press onto the American public. And why is it that Congress members have declined to accept the same level of health care they want the "public" to accept in their bill? |

Lewin said the House and Senate health reform bills expand access to care, "but they haven't figured out how to bend the cost curve."
FIGURE OUT THE COST FIRST!! |

Actually it is you who is confused and misled by all the rhetoric. He was asking, talking about the loss of freedomm that a health bill would bring. Funny that the unconstitutionality of this and many other federal programs whittle away at the freedom of both the states and individuals to choose things for their own good. The U.S. Constitution limits the powers of government. Congress has no right to dictate to American citizens to accept a "federal" health care plan and the people should reject the same. "Mandatory health care contributes to a better society". May we see the clause and sec. of the Constitution that allows the congress to mandate health care? You people are all the same. Dictating to others the "need' as you see it, then sidestepping the law (U.S. Constitution) to get it done. No, that will not lead to a better society. Just more lawlessness. As always ..it starts from the top and is supported by unknowledgable lackeys at the bottom, giving a 'thumbs up' for a program because it sounds good. oh well, what more can we expect from an ignorant populace. |
