Biomarker for diagnosing the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases

A recent international patent application describes a method of determining the risk of developing cardiovascular disease in a patient by taking a blood sample from a patient and determining the level of leucine-rich alpha-2-glycoprotein (LRG), in the sample. An elevated or reduced level of LRG, in comparison to a control, indicates the pre-disposition to develop cardiovascular disease. News link:
