Catheter Ablation for Atrial Fibrillation

Be careful. This is a corporate-driven procedure that is not as safe or effective as advertised. In my Google news alerts the other day I got three articles in local papers proclaiming the catheter ablation can cure afib. This is out and out hype and most certainly untrue.

I also got an alert about a young man who had an ablation earlier this summer. They burned a hole in his heart and through his esophagus.

If you are considering this catheter ablation for afib, you really should read this book about the history of the procedure.
