This recent US patent (#7,977,052) describes the use of VAMP8 gene SNPS for determining whether a person has an increased risk for developing myocardial infarction. The presence of C at a polymorphism in gene VAMP8 at position 101 or G at position 101 of its complement indicates that said the person has an increased risk for developing myocardial infarction.
