After my first acupuncture session I had very blurred vision for about an hour. The acupuncturist said something about cleansing my liver. Has anyone heard of this/

I am practicing acupuncture for years and never heard of blurred vision after "cleansing a liver".
I think it is a result of strong streaming of QI th caused the blurred vision with no connection to the liver in this case.

The liver meridian "opens into the eyes". It is possible that either the muscles surrounding the eyes or the visual cortex itself were responding to the acupuncture, and it took a while for you to adapt to the change.

I have had 3 acupuncture treatments, and after each time my vision is blurred. I was told that my liver was blocked.

I also had blurred vision after acupuncture - it lasted for about three hours in one eye only. I haven't been back for another session because I was pretty freaked out.

I've had 2 sessions and now have had blurred vision for over a week? Is this normal? I'm scared they messed up a nerve or something...

I have been doing acupuncture to assist with fertility and have also found that after each session I have blurred vision that last apprx. 45 minutes. Plan on speaking with the Dr this week to confirm why this is happening. You are not alone with the blurred vision and I will reply with any update he provides.

My son, 9, has had three NAET treatments, which is a form of accupressure for food sensitivities, over the past week. His vision has been blurred all week. I am worried about it!

I've been getting acupuncture for years and my vision got blurry for the first time today! It lasted about a couple of hours, I took a nap and now all is back to normal. Strange!

I had my first acupuncture treatment today and experienced the blurred vision for about an hour. I was nervous about driving but by the time I got to my car after shopping it had stopped.

I have had two acupuncture treatments for sciatica, which i have managed for about en years, but mostly for severe pain in my left shoulder, neck, headaches out my left eye, nerve pain in left elbow, knees, numbness in toes both feet right sorse, and nerve pain in my right ribs to pelvic bone that all started 3 days after an epidural during labor that did not work..I had two doses of epidural and iv pain meds (staydol sp?) That did almost nothing to ease pain of labor.. even felt dr stiching me up after... the acupuncturist I saw was a referral from my physical therapist and between the three pt's i have seen, my own gp who I love, and my massage therapist whom i also love and is an ex pt, the acupuncturist was only one who agreed w me that most likely my pain, besides sciatic, came from epidural.. so as scared as i was to have more needles in me i went on the advise of one of my pt's.... the result was i had dbl vision.. stop lights looked like two, one on top of the other, pain on my good upper side, had to take a pain pill to stop the migraine i felt welling up behind my right eye (the good side) and i called the acupuncturist immediately when got home to be told that that was unusual but sometimes the body can go through a 'healing crisis' and try to relax or may get worse... so i rested for 3hrs but then had to work. The next day dbl vision was gone but my 'good' side still hurt. The day after i showed up for a second treatment and saw a dif acupuncturist at same office who said that 1st treatment they used a lot of needles and would back off this time as wanted to help me, not hurt... i liked both of these ladies and had good feeling of office so we proceeded. Aafter appt i again had dbl vision, tho this time the 'second' light under the real light was not as opaque... i again went home n rested before my shift... that night (Thursday) i again had severe pain on my 'good' side and have had a migraine every night since except sunday when i had one in the am ... well it actually never went away sat night but lets count it as separate... for the migraines nothing med wise works unless i catch it early and take a pain pill (5-10 mg hydrocodone) along w 2 exedrine migraine, ice pack, and heating pad... if i wake up with one or it gets bad before i can take a med i am s.o.l and have lay in the dark w ice pk and heat pad and let it run its course.. w an extremely healthy and lively 9mo old this is almost always impossible... I took my wonderfu,ly healthy child into dr today for his 9mo ck up and as his dr is my dr i asked her about it briefly as my appt with her is next Monday and i basically wanted her input before scheduling another acupuncture treatment.... after discussing what i have just above written she said to not go back and seemed alarmed at the dbl vision which lasted about 24hrs.... so!!!! I know this is alot of information but wanted to be as detailed as possible incase there are any dr's, acupuncturists, med people or anyone dealing w chronic everday pain like my own on here that may have any ideas? Sitting and typing this now w my elbows propped up, on a heating pad, w my holistic lotion doing its icey hot thing on both my shoulders i am still in pain.. feel like spent 8 1/2 months fighting this and after almost 6wks of feeling better w managing daily pain w meds then trying heal instead of just pain manage w acupuncture has brought me bk to square one... very frustrating. Tk god i have a beautifu,l son, wonderful fiance and family and lots of supportive babysitting friends or id be out on a ledge somewhere as no one should have to live like this... any helpfulness would be great. Up until 2 Novembers ago i horseback rode on gaited horses every weekend, snowboarded during winter and played non competitive volleyball every week.. now im lucky if can take a shower, play with my. Kid, mess around w my horses, or even do my hair before work w/o paying for it with severe pain 20min later...
