Using a meridian based perspective to pattern identification and treatment is an extremely useful method for generating greater clinical efficiency. In the Taiwanese and Japanese styles it is common to understand meridian connections according to 4 systems.
1. The Chinese meridian names such as Tai Yin (LU - SP), Tai Yang (UB - SI), etc.
2. Internal-External Relationships (UB - KI)
3. The Horary Cycle (UB - LU) and (KI - PC)
4. Zang Fu Bei Tong Theory (LV - LI) and (SI - SP)
