It's silly writing...
FYI: What's known about that era is that it was one of extreme changes in climate, with ice ages coming and then receding. This was especially a problem in more northern latitudes and perhaps less so in Africa. The latest ice age only finished about 10,000 years ago, after which agriculture began to flourish.

A problem? Mile thick glaciers a "problem"? Acne is a problem. Not making the rent is a problem. Drunk guys who habitually pee on the fence across the street is a problem. But snails-- snails are delicious, more so if they aren't larded with parasites and vile bacteria. I think the big question is: did they ever find a snail shell with a Clovis point embedded in it?

I would not expect a Clovis point there. Those people lived much earlier than the Clovis. Check the dates for yourself.
