THIS is why I don't bother replying to the articles on this forum very much.
ASH is not a charity. ASH is a hate-group.
These lame, sorry-@$$ journalists (this is not the only article, on this forum, it's just a very extreme example) probably know that, I presume. I don't see how they could not. I guess certain journalists could just be extremely stupid. That is theoretically plausible. However, for the most part, I would bet on "doing it on purpose".
And you know, I could write a reply on every one. But I'm not. Their's not really anything to be gained. I've already posted these things enough. Enough people have read the things I have posted, and have/will be spreading it through the "Butterfly Effect"
(Long-story-short: Not as many people read Topix these days. However, when you post something that is very, very true and helpful, one person reads it, and tells/teaches others. Many even re-post a paraphrasal somewhere else, which educates MANY others, and it grows exponentially.)
I'm not going to go through each of these articles and refute everything over and over. That would be like trying to kill nats by getting each one, one by one. Of course (as most people should know), that is very ineffective. One must instead, get the queen, by putting out those "bait motels" and letting the workers take it back too the colony.
Anyway, if you look at the newsfeed, day in day out, it's littered with anti-smoking articles like this. This one happens to be extreme, because they actually have the balls to call ASH a "charity".
Most of the time I don't even view the feed itsself, much less any of the articles. And this is why.
And I trust that pretty much nobody (who is anybody) in this day and age, is stupid enough to believe anything just because the Mass Media said it. Are they? I'll put it this way: Anybody who is that stupid, deserves what they get.
Anyway, that's why I barely post on these anymore. Just no reason to.
And I'm pretty sure that most of the people from those media outlets have by now, read my posts. However, I don't think those journalists are going to learn and change. Because they are, pretty much POV-pushing. They know they are doing wrong. They just do stuff like that for $ and to kiss up to the Top 1%.
But I'm not really worried about it, as long as the average reader knows that, which I'm sure most do by now. Anyone whose read my posts should anyway, which is a bunch of people (even for Topix). So I'm ok with it, I guess.
The Mass Media is own it's way out. Another 5 or 10 years, you won't really have a Mass Media. Just sites like YouTube, and citizen journalism sites. People's TVs will connect too the Internet (YouTube, etc.) instead of TV channels.
And the 455H0L3s who write these lame articles will be out of business. And to that I say, good riddance to bad rubbish!!!
So anyway, that's all I've really got to say. I'm not gonna comment on the fact that the stupid ban thing is wrong. I've already covered that over and over (If anyone asks or brings it up, I'll post a link to my other posts on this subject.) And I'm not gonna go into the fact that ASH was the one who commissioned the survey, so it's not surprising the results were skewed. That's such a no-brainer I'm not even going to explain it (unless anybody really don't get it... I will if anyone brings it up...)
Like I said, killing nats one by one (a.k.a. posting on each of the articles on this forum) is a waist of time. However, in a few years or so these lame companies who post this crap will likely be extinct. And in the meantime, nobody (who is anybody) takes them seriously anyway. So I guess all is well. As well is it can be under the circumstances, anyway.

The parents are such baboons they couldn't do this without government intervention.

It shouldn't need a law. People should know better

Actually no, I submit that nobody should have any hesitation whatsoever, about smoking with kids in the car, so long as the window is rolled down far enough.
With the window down, all of the smoke goes strait out the window. If it doesn't (if any smoke whatsoever goes back into the car), you attach a small fan so that it does all go out the window.
I don't have any kids (yet) but if I did (or "when I do" if you prefer), that's exactly how I would/will do it.
Also, I don't want my car smelling like smoke, so I'm extremely careful about that. The window is down, and if it's a windy day or something (or if for whatever reason all of the smoke is not going out the window), I have 3 small fans (of different sizes and shapes), that I can pull out in a flash (whichever one of them is appropriate). And they will make it so that it does, 100% everytime.
And the same goes if anyone else smokes in my car. My rule is "I better not be able to smell it, one little bit, whatsoever!" That's pretty much my rule about letting people smoke in my car. It's 100% ok, as long as I do not smell it, whatsoever, at any point.
Which is easy enough, just use the window. ;)
It's not so much the smell, it's the after-smell. And yeah I could spray it, but I'd rather people just be careful, or else don't smoke in my car. I mean if they aren't careful about that, who knows what else they aren't careful about? Maybe ashes, holes in the upholstery, who knows what else...
So yeah, that's my rule about letting people smoke in my car. You can do it as long as I cannot smell it, whatsoever.
Anyway yeah, I submit that smoking with kids in a car is 100% ok as long as the window is down, etc.(reefer too the paragraphs above, about what "etc" means; I was just reiterating this, one last time, too close my post on)
And one more last thing: I didn't go into the alleged harmfulness of ETS, because in this situation it's kinda complicated. Normal concentrations of ETS are harmless (although would probably annoy the child, which I don't like that and would be a reason to disapprove), however, if you were in a car WITH THE WINDOWS UP, those concentrations would be extremely high. And therefore could possibly be theoretically harmful (depending on a bunch of stuff...) So yes that topic is infinitely more complex, in this scenario, so I just didn't go into it.
