There aren't full facts that is why you are surprised.
No need to take it personal just because you are digging your feet in to defend your assumption as to what happened. We don't know what happened except in broad generalities from one side (because the other guy is unconscious).
There is an investigation pending and until the media writes up the full extent of what all happened bloggers are just guessing as to what happened. Oh brother. This isn't pro cop anti cop choices here.

Who knows what the cops did after the accident so far it is focusing on the guy who caused the accident's actions as told by the COPS. The unconsious guys' side still has to be told.

There is only one witness who only saw the car trying to go back and forth on the street.

There is plenty for confusion.

EP Police, shoot first ask questions and lie to cover up later! Freaking thugs!!
This murdering cop couldn't shoot out the tires first?
You think the police department isn't full of thugs?
There's no excusing the idiot that hit the cop's car, but using deadly force for a minor fender bender?
Cops shouldn't be judge and jury just cause they're cops! I bet they get off scott free!

I guess for you its OK to assume the cops are wrong and we can post stupid comments but we need all the facts when we assume their right. Bugger off.

I can see how an officer, on duty or off, will draw their weapon out when a life, their's or another's, is threatened. But I thought it would be better to shoot say the wheels of the car, or even the person's limbs, not so much the neck!

The first thing you should do in an accident is make sure no one is hurt, not try and run over someone while you are trying to escape. There are other issues here. When the truth comes out we will see that there was a reason why he was trying to leave the scene.

I think the driver of the car was choking on a piece of candy, which caused him to crash into the cops, the off duty officer then got off to help and saw that the driver was choking and quickly took his gun out and shot him in the neck giving him an emergency Tracheotomy, thus saving the driver's life. The cop should be given a medal.

Sir, can I get you to step out of the car so I can shoot you in the leg? Which leg do you prefer? Get real!

Were your parents bother and sister? Mayby they should have just shot him in the big toe or maybe the car motor. Yeah, that's it. The car is the culpret, kill the car. No, just shoot out the tail lights.
LOL!!! Yes, shotting the big toe or the tail lights....that will stop the person from moving the car or running off. You're an idiot. Stopping the person by shotting the arm, let, the tires of the car were examples of stopping him from moving the car or him running off is he tried to run out from the car. You are a little too extreme and angry to see a better way of catching the bad guys without killing them first, then asking questions. Your attempted insult and view of my comment shows you lack of intelligence and how you are just a bit too sensitive.

Thank you EPPD for getting this menace out of the way. Now go on after the AZTECAS and clean this town. Kudos...
Seriously, if you had him close range, how come you didn't shoot between the eyes? I would have.
Next time you see a cop, thank him for his service to this community.

El Paso's finest. I beg to differ. The police in El Paso are so uneducated. Not just the anglos and the hispanics but also the asians and the blacks. It is an embarrassment to see them on COPS. The stupid cop show. Who cares who they shot this time. It was just another day in a comedy of blunders by EPPD finest. If you don't like what I just said, then eff you. Who cares. I don't.

the biggest problem we have in this city is drivers leaving the scene of accidents. it is amazing that more drivers being struck from behind don't react other than to yell at the police for not finding the hit and run driver. if what was reported was correct, the officer doing the shooting identified him self and was preventing the driver from running over the other officer. what no one realizes is that officers are on duty 24/7 even "off-duty". the have the responsibility to act.

Wow "Corruptos" did you not read and understand what happened???? He hit them from behind, then tried to take off and ended up hitting the female officer with his car, which by the way is deadly force on his part. While she was on the ground he placed his car in reverse and tried to hit her again and that's when the other cop identified himself and fired his weapon. Before bashing cops....why don't you understand the situation first.

If you have ever been involved in a shooting, you would know......
there isn't any time to ask questions. "Excuse me, are you planning on doing anything I should shoot you for or should I just wait until you do something to endanger or harm others and hope your just a clumsy fool and it won't hurt anyone too bad."
