Thank you DT for publishing such an uplifting story. What an inspirational young lady! Her parents have obviously done a wonderful job raising her and they deserve alot of praise for keeping her motivated--it's not easy when they hit the teens! Good luck, Jessica.....we'll be watching for you at the top.

What does how she look have to do with anything? Some people just don't know how to say good job and good luck. She earned her recognition thru hard work. Good luck in your upcoming venture young lady.

Jessie,

good luck and wish you success in your effort to be the best!

My only advice to you is this: DO NOT volunteer to serve as Navajo Nation Parade Grand Marshall. Most of everyone (especially those representing the 'youth') seem to fall a part after serving as Grand Marshall, i.e. Notah Begay.

If the Navajo Tribal Officials come to you, tell them "no thank you".

What would that have to do with this wonderful, young lady's accomplishment?

Thank you to all the well-wishes for your words of support and encouragement. As Jessie's mother, I am absolutely elated of her accomplishments. Of course, with achievement there is sacrifice. What we've sacrificed the most is being away from our friends and family. We would especially like to thank Jessie's grandparents for their support from Home; Karen Dixon (Aztec), Lorenzo Bates (Upperfruitland), Ray Padilla (Aztec), Linda Garcia (Shiprock), and Mr and Mrs Garcia (Shiprock). By the way, Jessie is Navajo. According to her CIB, 9/16 blood to be exact. :)
