He was like a father to me...I think of him every day and every time I walk into the school. He had faith in me when I didn't have faith in myself. His words still ring in my ears as if he is actually speaking to me. The strength and endurance of his spirit prevail over the pain of his loss. I'm am grateful that I was there that day and that my last words to him were in appreciation of what he did for me. I will never forget his teachings and I will walk away from this having formed a beautiful and powerful bond with a man considered a legend. I only wish to pay forward to others that which he has given me. Thank you Sir...for everything.

I am so sad to hear that Sabumnim passed. And they way it happened is very horrid. My dad actually told me about his death. We figured it was someone that maybe challenged him and being a coward shot Master Do. That mystery guy is a coward. I trained with Sabumnim in 1993 and my father Samuel Pratt trained and became a 3rd degree black belt 7 years before i became a student. Master in my opinin was the best that there ever was and it was a great honor to even have been his student. I have gotten back into Tae Kwon Do because of him. He pushed you to your limits and he didn't like wimps. He was a great man and a master. Hopely one day I can be like him. My heart goes out to Master Ricky....you already have made your father proud........and you will accomplish more.

Today it's been 2 years, but it feels like yesterday. We are so blessed to have had you as our Master, for the lessons we learned and are still learning from your teachings - Thank you. We pray that every time we tie our belts we bring honor to your legacy. We are now 3 students teaching and studying the art that you opened our hearts to. Alex will be the strongest yet, his uniform a little big, but his passion so great. All our love and gratitude. The Hamilton Family

My deepest sympathies and prayers for the family, which was my family many years ago.....Sabunim was my mentor when I was at a very fragile part of my life...He showed me perseverance, dedication and hard work would prove to be my greatest assets in life. I earned my 1st degree Black Belt under Master Young Soo Do and will never forget the great times we had...I love you and will miss you dearly!!!! The world was a blessing with you in it...and it is so sad to hear of the cowardly man that took you away :) My heart goes out to all the people that you touched so dearly!!! ALL MY LOVE ALWAYS,

... I still think of Master all the time and lately, I've been thinking of him everyday. He was a great man. No one can ever replace him. He was the BEST instructor anyone could have ever asked for. My brother and sisters and I were blessed.. truly blessed to have learned from him. Master, thank you for your guidance in and out of TKD class. I miss you. The world misses you.

I just stumbled onto this site after recognizing Master Young Soo Do's name. I never trained under him directly, rather under his student, Coswell Burrell and had the opportunity to meet him several times as a child. My instructor always spoke highly of the Grandmaster and passed many techniques that he learned under him. Master Young Soo Do's legacy lives on through the many people who were influenced by his passion of tae kwon do. May his family find peace and justice.

my opinion this man was no ones target to be killed i think it was a gang thing where you shoot someone to get in a gang the master and other guy happened to be at that area where guys was cruising cause it happened to my brother in early 1990s he was shot by koreans cops never found out who did it he lived, i dont even think the cops even tryed to investigate but later on we found out that punks was shooting people to get in a gang.
