I was wondering if anyone know's what ever happen to Master Jim Murray from Pottstown PA? I had the honor of meeting him many many years ago at a training camp in Colorado and spent many years training under him at numerous seminars and camps. It was such a pleasure and honor to meet and get to know him, he was an amazing instructor and person, and very devoted to the art of Tae Kwon-Do and the beloved General Choi Hong Hi. I just wondered where he has been, and how he is doing. Does anyone know where he is these days and if he still teaches?

i was a student of his in the early 80's. I have been informed that he retired from teaching. I have recently been in contact with Master Mark Cashatt that also was taught by Master Lees who was taught by Master Murray. google markcashatt's taekwondo and you can email him. I have sent Master Cashatt some photo's of myself and Master Murray from the early to mid 80's. Good luck.

I also had the honor of meeting Master Murray in the mid 80's. He would come to our dojang in Philadelphia, and assist with our testing. Those were great times, and he along with Master Suk Jun Kim, Master Mark McCarthy, and others were inspriational in my TKD training.

This is so cool to hear some of the names of the people that I used to work out with at Mr. Murray's TKD school. I remember Scottie Trythall and people like Darlene Newman. These are still some of the best memories I have in my life. I think Debbis Risko took over the school and it is now back at its original location on Moser Road in Pottstown at the Nagle Center. Take care everyone and if anyone wants to shoot me an email I can be reached at [email protected]

He still lives in Pottstown. He retired in 2004 and another student of his purchased the school and a few years later the school closed down unfortunately.
Mr. Greak (of Winfield, PA) my instructor now talks to him often. Our federation is dedicated to him and his hard work (Yom Chi TaeKwon-Do Federation).
We invited him out a couple of times to train with us (in Lancaster, Winfield and my other location near Hershey), I believe the last time was 2006.
I trained with him from 1994-2004 and I agree he was such an inspiring and down-to-earth guy in the world of TaeKwon-Do.

I was wondering about Master Murray and did what anyone does, Google. I remember Scott Trythall, Paul Winterbottom and believe I took my BB Test with Brain Smith. Two of my kids are taking TKD with Rob Benedetto at Dragon Star. Master Murray was an amazing athlete and master of the art.

I went to many tournaments around the country and also remember Jim Murray. Some of the names ring a bell. It's been so long. I have a tae-kwon-do school in Los Angeles. I remember Paul Winterbottom. I never seen anything like him, not even to this day!!!!! I believe he was ranked number one in the world back in the 80's. do others remember this man?

what a great post to find. I love Tae-kwon-do. I know most of the names in the postings above. I came in after Brian Smith and Scottie Trythall. I was a little girl when Paul Winterbottom was competing. I think he was all our idols. I showed the post to my dad. he commented that winterbottom was one in a million. maybe the best that ever put on a uniform. does anyone now how mr. murray is doing? I wish I kept up with the martial arts.

i studied with master Teller. my art form was karate not Tae-kwon-do. I did a lot of international tournaments where all styles mixed in. does anyone remember steve kellington? he had the most talent of any martial artist I came into contact with. we don't count Paul Winterbottom, for he was in a class all his own. that wouldn't be fare to us mortals. however, steve was great. he teaches in kop. I would have loved to train with the tae-kwon-do team. more kicks then my style.
