should save this trip for when he retires. In the meantime we have 1300+ kids at the school with no superintendent (our spring break isn't until April 8th). John Bryant is interium superintendent but is now the principal at the elementary school and still dabbling in his administrative position at the district building then trying to be a superintendent. Bizarre and once again not fair to kids. what are we paying Hickey anyway?

Is he the first person in the area to visit South Korea? I think he is really taking his life into his own hands, going to a country that borders on a country with nuclear weapons. It would be like visiting Canada. Could we profile someone who visited Montreal next, and visited their first piano teacher?

This is so typical of the supertintendents (including Queen Linda) living high on the taxpayers money and not doing their jobs~!

Do you folks have to complain about everything? It's called a public interest story, and is a break from the garbage that is force fed through the media every second of every day. Try to NOT visit this forum for one week and see if your temper issues settle down at all.

There is no interest in people taking a vacation. Hell, everyone is doing it this week. It's called spring break. We as a Trail-Gazette audience get a steady diet of updates on particular people, always the same particular people, doing very ordinary things - acting in a play, going on a trip, opening up their mailbox. Yet the local newspapers seem to want to try to convince us that these are somehow miraculous, otherworldly events that they are accomplishing.

Meanwhile, people who are really accomplishing real things are ignored. All the time. The readers of these papers know the granular detail of the current school superintendent and principal. Why? Are the reporters lazy? Are they sleeping with the people being reported on, so it's just easier that doing actual background?

Grow up, Dan, and read a real paper like the WSJ or NYT for a few issues and see what actual news is, not the diaper remnants we are fed here routinely.

it come to our most vulnerable citizens...children. After all that has happened in the schools and elsewhere (remember Sandy Hook idiot?) it would behoove the leader of the school to take his vacation when school is out or during the Estes Park spring break (April 8). Hey, if he can leave the district high and dry and let everyone else holding the bag how about we save $120,000.00 and not have a superintendent? Evidently he's not neede here; more in South Korea or at a One Hung Low studio near you.

The Estes Park schoold district spring break is not this week. It isn't until April 8. That's the whole point.

In a general, generic sense, it is spring break all over the U.S.A. for the next few weeks. There are some schools on break right now, there will be other schools on break the week after that, or the week after that. Whether or not Estes Park is on break currently is beside the overarching point, which is that our local papers are filled with dog stories and select board member stories and every time another g.d. group of unemployed or retired people put on a one-act play, they get 10 pages of coverage, at a time when we have one kid in jail for shooting another (no details released, four months later) and we have one person dead and another injured in the park (details withheld on the injuries, why?), and we have two papers, two, not one, but two, that should be doing the job of papers and asking tough questions and publishing NEW information so they can be called NEWSpapers instead of propaganda arms of the public information officers, all overpaid because they do nothing to educate the public, they simply attempt to solidify it into a worshipful mass of idiots.

Denver tomorrow for a dentist's appointment.

How does she schedule an interview? It would be easier for her if other people paid for it, so maybe you could emphasize this in the article. Is there any way you could run an editorial as well explaining the benefits of proper flossing?
Good point

All the self percieived "power people" in Estes are so busy in-fighting that strings of buglaries are occuring, fire dept. credit cards supposedly stolen (I wonder if Klink and Ingel set that up:), etc. We do have 2 papers but like you said none of them are worth the trees that gave up their barky little lives to become nothing more imformative than birdcage liner.
I do believe the point of the spring break is relevant since Hickey should have waited until Estes had their break like all the rest of the school children and teachers. One must lead by example and running off to SK while everyone else is diligently doing their jobs (especially the kids) is a lack of character and dedication on his part. Isn't this part of what we are trying to teach our youth along with algebra and English?

But, like you said the paper blew a pre-emptive strike and wrote this bit of fluff so maybe we would be stupid enough to say "ah, gee that's great" or "how transparent". Geez
Right on

Love the dialogue and what is needed now is a general embargo of the newspapers by both subscribers and advertisers to get the point across.
