Ah, what would grass hopper do in this situation? Sensei Jim may find that it take more than a karate chop to get out of this sticky prediciament!

Hopefully the publicity of this case and others (music teachers, soccer trainers and school teachers) opens up the eyes of parents.
The people that your kids are spending time with may not be what they appear. Don't leave your kids alone with these people. Too many times parents use their kids trainers and coaches as babysitters.
One big red flag and I don't know why people don't see it. Don't let your kid have a friendship with an adult. Kids should have friends that are kids and adults with adults.

Right on. Your child's hero, mentor and confidante should be YOU, not the karate teacher.

Hopefully this will teach a lesson to teacher, coaches, mentors, etc. to avoid children at all costs and not care about anyone or anything. Teach children to have meaningless relationships that have no connections whatsoever and to never get attached to anyone including their parents.
Anyone can abuse you so why don't we just set all the babies free at birth?
Maybe instead, PARENTS can actually be PARENTS and stop blaming others for their FAILURES as PARENTS and teach their children to see signs of pedophiles. This way the children will not be the victims because they will be the ones the pedophiles aviod. Either that or we can have the situation outlined above.
In the far past communities used to raise children together. There was a sense of group and teachers were able to work with parents instead of working against the stupid that procreated but should have been sterilized.
DISCLAIMER: I am not defending him, I am defending the role of a teacher, mentor, friend, "big brother/big sister," etc. because I am one and I get close to kids and by treating them as equals, you get them to develop into much better humans. I am NOT a pedophile and never will be.

Well said! In Homeland Security jargon, if you lock up your child at home and don't let them experience any extra-curricular activities, then the pedophiles win.
Meanwhile, Uncle Ernie will be delighted that you are locking your child inside so that he can fiddle about.

Newsday needs to confirm their information before they print them as facts particularly when it involves an accusation as serious and in this case, ridiculous, as this one is. Having been there at the time Sensei Jimmy left Ms Santamaria's karate school, he did not walk out on Ms Santamaria. He gave her ample notice he was leaving as well as offering to stay longer which she chose to not have him do. As far as her school being devastated, she has a strong business and did after Sensei Jimmy left to open his own karate school in another town. The people that left Ms Santamaria did so on their own accord because of their disatisfaction with the remaining instructors at Ms Santamaria's karate school. I have some questions...if this alleged event happened in July, why did this child wait for 3 months to come forward and still attend karate classes with Sensei Jimmy? Don't you find it odd that Sensei Jimmy spent 15 years with Ms Santamaria and never was there a single question about his conduct with children as Ms Santamaria stated? Doesn't anyone find it very suspicious that the day after this boy is cut from a karate demo team, his parents file this charge? against the person who cut this child from the team? Think about it people and don't speak about that which you know nothing about. Sensei Jimmy will be vindicated and I sure hope the name of the family who made these false accusations is published in shame.

One would not like to hear that a Karate Instructor would be involved in a situation like this. But, Jim was always surrounded by boys, his favorites were always around. On the service it looked as not an issue.
But looking back he has always had his favorite group of students, all young boys and this started over 10 years ago.
I hope it is not true, but where there is smoke there is fire and there have been rumors before.
Just think , he dyed the tip of his hair blond and 10 boys followed suit. This showed the type of influence he had and
how someone in authority could control the thoughts of children. I really hope it is not true but hope if any other people that this has happened to, go to the police , we will know it is true and maybe Jim can get help.

Before you go ahead and praise the child as a 'hero' or castigate Sensei Jimmy as an 'animal'- you might want some facts. These are obviously NOT available as yet.

The police on a News12 broadcast said that the 'investigation' was started in July because of 'explicit' text messages, Newsday says it all came about on the way to class. Anybody's guess which is true... Ms Santamaria's statements are distributed without anyone realizing she might like to make sure a competitor goes under?

There seems to be little attempt at being balanced or fair in an increasingly self-righteous, vigilante society.

26% of society suffers from some from of mental illness... and very few ever get help...Too many broken people want to give their life over to some one, or some thing rather than take control of their own life...over 50% of all marriages end in divorce.

The gutter responses of too many individuals on either side who need to resort to ad hominem points to this.

Most child molesters molest many kids before they get caught. They spend years grooming a kid, till they are finally caught in their emotional trap.

I suggest everyone go to
Parents for Megan's Law
to learn more how to protect our kids. The over emotional reaction of Bonfiglio's protectors was predictable. I hope SCPD has been monitoring this Forum for the threats made to the victim. I hope arrests are made as well.

Again a post from someone perpetuating rumors without facts to back them up. Shame on you.

What a loser, and the parents too. Hey parents heres an idea, why not keep you kids home a few hours a week with you!!!! Instead of shoveling them off to their next soccer/karate/football/little league/boy scout/camp/play date/tutor/alter boy meeting/doctor appointment/dentist appointment/psych appointment/the list is endless. Guess what you DONT have to go to the doctor/dentist 12 times a year for regular checkups and your child does not have to be involved in every single extra ciricular activity, this is your loser life shining through as you are trying to make your child succesful at SOMETHING because you were not. Then after shoveling them off you go home and sigh a breath of relief that you finally have some alone time...guess what if you cerish alone time why did you have children?!?!?! Now that you have them, raise them losers and for someone who miniamlly went to the doctor/dentist growing up who is healthy with good teeth, and has never been to a psych or been diagnosed with add adhd, who played basketball and baseball growing up because I actually enjoyed the sports, isn't it amazing I was never even any sort of perversion like this. I remember the different strokes episode where arnold and his little buddy met with the old white man who showed them 'special cartoons' and used to get this weird creepy feeling because I could not relate to it because my parents actually cared about me and never put me in a situation like that. Typical self indulged parents who are losers in life.

Who the heck in their right mind would believe the "quotes" of Joyce Santamaria. She lost a large number of students indeed, but that is because both students and parents were unhappy with her studio. Black belts need to be earned not handed out because you pay your monthly tuition. Seen way too many of those.

For whom then will these mothers get all dolled up? I'm sure the mothers enjoy going to that studio 4+ times a week just as much as their Stepford kids.

Besides, Jimmy's making a killing in fees. What other community of nuts would pay someone else to co-parent their kids almost every day of week plus weekends.

He's like the ex-husband they never had.
