This person is an example of a selfish person. He himself sought asylum in this country...not entered in this country based on his skills. He came here because he was worried about his promotion but advising people here who come on low skiiled job to keep sticking to their low skilled job and don't look for promotio. This person is a real c**p.

The true example of a selfish person are the ones who come here illegally. This man followed the rules and like most people he expects others to do the same.

Juan one and Juan too could go home and apply for Political asylum or at best apply for legal immigration. We want only educated professionals that have had educations that only improve the Society in this Country. The millions of fruit pickers breaking in and wanting legal status will only burden this Country. Burdens we do not want. Millions of displaced Job seekers deserve better than to compete with a illegal Mexican/South American. No amnesty ever......

The fact that hes a senator SON and escape his country due to economic oppression and applied here for ASYLUM and then became a US CITIZEN, & then established an immigration groups, and hes saying that he doesnt want a path to citizenship for those that come here illegally simply means that he is selfish!!!

Maybe he should have some considerations at all. No wonder Sen Paul and McConnell seems ignoring him...

You became a US Citizen only because of Asylum and youre a SENATOR son??? Shutup!!!

The fact is that he never slithered through The border or overstayed some visa.He came here legally and has always been legal. The man's views on how to fix illegal immigration are perfect, harsh punishments for employers who hire illegals and making birthright citizenship clear that it shouldn't apply to the children of illegals would make building a massive fence a complete waste of money. It's funny how things are, maybe if illegal aliens didn't drop so many anchors(40million),granting amnesty wouldn't be such a big deal.

That is not what he said in the article. Try reading it again or have somebody with comprehension skills to explain it to you.

How do you know he entered illegally? The article does not say that. What we do no from the article is that he is here legally and he believes that like him and millions of other honest people immigrants should do so legally and those that do not should not be rewarded for breaking the law.

So you have no idea what the word "asylum" means? Not surprising.

It means he arrived in the US without documentation and asked for permission to stay. It is impossible to grant asylum to somebody who entered with a visa. Does everything have to be spelled out for you?

So I quess your latest position is that if anybody enters the country without documentation and utters the words, "may I stay" then you are OK with that. Whatever.

Just during these days, the pope threw a wreath into
the ocean at the southern Italian island of Lampedusa ,commemorating the 20000 Africans who died in recent years trying to cross the ocean. He stated that humanity has lost the capacity to have compassion and to cry for these people.
Immigration is a worldwide issue and there is a lot
of unfairness as well as inhumanity going on.
I personally am very critical of people who get into the country due to "political asylum" and then
become citizens just like that, while others
are being taught that they should learn how to
crawl first. Here´s the thing: Immigration and
emigration remains a question of destiny.
Governments throughout the world should not
be hindering immigrants to go wherever they
want to. While in the U.S.A. I saw several cases
of political asylum fraud: The American immigration
system will never be perfect and at present
the government is even´t looking in the right direction.Almost anyone with a little bit of money
can bribe other Chinese in order to get in from
China. If Americans knew just how much fraud is
being committed in this manner, they´d be enraged.
But-people should be able to go wherever they want to go. A thankful immigrant may prove to be a powerful ally. The only ones I`d be tough on are
those who lateron go on to exploit the system,
or who turn into terrorists.
In general, one should be optimistic about this
topic, because human nature usually is thankful
in essence for any chance given.
There are too many politicians who believe that it
is a patriotic act to impose many sanctions on
the undocumented. I believe that it doesen´t make
sense to punish people just because the American
government has become less liberal about handing
out green cards over the years.
The present immigration bill shall pass anyways,
no matter what the present debate is saying about it. Whosoever wants to block it needs to do some
very hard mental as well as spiritual work in
order to craft a bill that is fairer and better.
The path to citizenship aught to be even briefer than thirteen years- but people should need to
prove in a talk held with an official that they
are firmly rooted within America and its values
and that they enjoy its culture.Time by itself
is no guarantee for anything at all.
If someone has a great attitude and already has made significant contributionms to society- they should be eligible for citizenship within five years- why not?All this insistence on rules is
not where its at.The only thing I´d pay attention
to is if wellfare is being misused. People who do this are especially of the type that sneaks in
by using a "legal" pathway-and then continues cheating on the system-if need be with the assistance of lawyers from their own country.
Mitt Romney was going to crack down on this type
of evil- but it made him unpopular, and so he lost
the presidential bid: The truth is very often
very uncomfortable to even listen to:
Sorry folks- but there it is!°
