First off, it has never been proven that SHS has killed anyone. To prove me wrong all you have to do is name a few names. That should be easy if it supposedly kills thousands every year... eh?
All your side has are manipulated statistics that completely ignore HUGE counfounders. You are the victim of exaggerated propaganda, just as the global warming fanatics have convinced so many of the gullible. See how that so called "settled science" is working out for those fools these days? Those fanatics have egg all over their faces, and the tobacco cult is really no different.
Did you know the that the vast majority of the so called "studies" that supposedly prove the terrible dangers of SHS never included confounders that are well known today? Tell us, what use are studies that leave out HUGE counfounders that are common to the vast majority of the population? I'll tell you how useful they are...they are nothing but worthless scrap that should be relegated to the dustbin of bad science history.
Am I saying that it is impossible for SHS to kill? No, just that it is highly unlikely and the so called dangers are completely overblown by ridiculous proportions.
Let us see how consistent you are, or if you are selective in your approach to this issue... like most on your side are.
Those who you side with make the preposterous claim that there is "no safe level" of tobacco smoke which flys in the face of known science such as the first rule of toxicology for goodness sake.
This standard is not based on science at all, but is instead the product of a religious ferver that needs to sensationalize to fool the masses. Basically what you have are a bunch of religious nuts who claim science is on their side, when they abuse even the most basics of science itself.
Allow me to easily demonstrate this...
Just what other forms of smoke qualify for the "magical" standard of "no safe level"? Can you name even one? How about the top ten? Can't find any? How on earth is that possible when some forms of smoke can kill in minutes?
Google to your hearts content and all you will find is tobacco smoke listed as such. Weird eh? Not really if you understand where this ridiculous standard came from. It is the statement of fanatics who treat science like a religion.
Now tell us...would you be willing to apply your sides ridiculous standard of "no safe level" to all forms of smoke that contain known carcinogens, or only to those you do not like or find useful?
There really is nothing more annoying than a self righteous moral busybody who abuses science to push an agenda...all while applying a HUGE set of double standards...eh?
What does all this nonsense have to do with a ban to keep idiot smokers from smoking in cars with kids?To a lot of people thats a nobrainer. If you care about your children, you wouldnt do that anyway,i would think. When i was a kid,my dad would smoke on long family trips, and with windows up or down,i could still smell that noxious cigarette smoke.I'll say it again, parents set an example and kids watch everything their parents say and do.I used to ask my dad to quit smoking and he said they were his "friend".This man(dad) had a stroke and his lungs are shot from decades of smoking,so no sympathy for smokers here.It blows my mind when i see young parents smoking around infants,or kids in a car. They have no choice in the matter, their socalled intelligent parents do.Is that addiction so strong, that you cant wait to get to your destination and spare you kids from smelling that nasty cigarette smoke?Im pretty sure my dad's life would've been better if he hadnt been smoking his whole life.Bad habits at a young age can affect your life when your older. But yet this one ole smoker comes on here defending his addiction to nicotine to us,lol.

Hey friend!! Doing great, thx for asking. You saw my long post here, lol. The subject of smoking just strikes a chord with me personally in many ways.Lost 2 relatives from smoking related diseases and my bro started up smoking again after almost dying from Pneumonia. He hacks and coughs real bad sometimes, but this smoker calls me a busybody, lol.Just trying to keep warm and patiently waiting for spring so we can head outdoors again, and start another massive garden, lol. Our freezer is still full of produce from last summer's harvest.Take care of the only body you have, eat right and dont SMOKE :).Have a good afternoon.

Might I suggest you go to the ADL website and then address what I posted?
“Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit”, and it still rings true. Uneducated people who have no basis for an argument resort to sarcasm so they feel intelligent.

Also if you use it online you are a complete moron because sarcasm only works with the proper tone of voice. It looses any attempted meaning with expressionless typing.

Why would I go to the A.D.L website when I have already stated I do not agree with their criminal policies and that I think they are liars.

Historical facts are not very meaningful since history is written by the winners.

I already showed you how the preposterous claims your kinds makes about SHS are ridiculously overblown.

We will all die someday, even someone as perfect as you, and there ain't a damn thing you can do about it. Your death may be more unpleasant than that of your father...and given your superior attitude...just remember Karma is a real bitch.

Perhaps, perhaps not. It really is not your place to decide, nor can it be proven one way or another. For all you know your dad was telling you the truth all along, but your self righteousness drowned out what he said.

I don't want any of your statistics; I took your whole batch and lit my pipe with it.

I hate your kind of people. You are always ciphering out how much a man's health is injured, and how much his intellect is impaired, and how many pitiful dollars and cents he wastes in the course of ninety-two years' indulgence in the fatal practice of smoking; and in the equally fatal practice of drinking coffee; and in playing billiards occasionally; and in taking a glass of wine at dinner, etc. etc. And you are always figuring out how many women have been burned to death because of the dangerous fashion of wearing expansive hoops, etc. etc. You never see more than one side of the question....

Now you know all these things yourself, don't you? Very well, then, what is the use of your stringing out your miserable lives to a lean and withered old age? What is the use of your saving money that is so utterly worthless to you? In a word, why don't you go off somewhere and die, and not be always trying to seduce people into becoming as ornery and unlovable as you are yourselves, by your villainous "moral statistics"?

Now, I don't approve of dissipation, and I don't indulge in it either; but I haven't a particle of confidence in a man who has no redeeming petty vices. And so I don't want to hear from you any more. I think you are the very same man who read me a long lecture last week about the degrading vice of smoking cigars, and then came back, in my absence, with your reprehensible fire-proof gloves on, and carried off my beautiful parlor stove.

Again, you are pitifully offsubject smoker. My father who smoked would've had a lot more better life at the end if he had never picked up those cigarettes in the first place.Im not a man,but a woman whos seen firsthand what cigs do to people.I dont care if you smoke a carton a day,but kids referring to this thread, have no choice in the matter do they? Sounds like your angry, because you cant light up everywhere in your state anymore.Thats what nicotine will do to you, glad i never started.BTW,my daughter doesnt want to be a smoker, since me and her father have set a good example for her, which is what good parents do.She cares about her health, and will be smokefree, like her parents.LEAD BY EXAMPLE,and also has seen what they did to members of our extended family.

Pal, I do not mean to sound unkind, but you must be smoking something other than tobacco. Prevention magazine says 1 in 500 smoking does not hurt any more than a one sucking on a straw. Wow what odds, about the same as being killed by lightning. We all have loved ones that died in their early 50's from smoking and ceased shortly before death. In my community smoking killed a whole generation of men and women eight brothers and sisters in their 50's one lived to 62. Their parents lived into their late 80's because they did not smoke, the children had long genes but they could not over-come the effects of smoking. You are the first one I have seen that tries to soft-peddle the deadly addiction of smoking. Even all folks I know that smoke admit they are killing themselves, but say they can not stop smoking. Why do you think congress made tobacco companies warn people on the package of their cigarettes about the danger? You better get in the real world, you are in self denial pal.

One car puts out 7.7 tons of pollution a year. There are 140 million cars on the road. That is 33 pounds of pollution a day for each person in this country to breath or 6 tons a year. In traffic you get to breath a lot more. Car exhaust can kill in minutes. Not one case of death by smoking or SHS. SHS has been proven harmless many times over. I have had the pollution make my lungs hurt on the freeways in southern Calif, make my eyes water so bad could hardly see to drive. The fix by the government is to tax any thing that puts out carbon monoxide. Which means they will tax you for breathing.
The water you drink has over 60,000 different chemicals in it, many the EPA has no idea what they will do to you. The EPA allows 700 times the amount of arsenic found in one cigarette in one glass of drinking water. Nicotine is found in many of your vegetables and vitamins.
Smoking is like one grain of sand on a beach compared to the rest of the crap you eat and breath.
