Second was over the Missouri Compromise. Slavery was down on the list.

One of my fav parts of the Civil War was when Jefferson Davis was forced to arm the black slaves, since the Confeds were on the ropes... and the debate raged on, that if they didn't give them guns, they'd lose the war... but then, if they DID give them the guns, then they ALSO, would have lost the war. lol
