Federal Court? State Court? What's the difference?

So I got this case in District court, but some of the lawyers were talking about bumping this up to Federal Court... what would that mean, exactly? Is that good? They did the same thang w/ Occupy... threw it into Federal court, where Mitch McConnell's men were, and then it got smashed... is that right? Does anybody out here, know anything about Kentucky is supposed to work?
