I recently moved to Kentucky from Utah.. I have to disagree. I live in the Eastern part, and sure, there are a few rustics who speak a thick accent so unfamiliar to me that I can't understand them, a few weird beards and people in need of dental work. There are also cultured people, refined southern-mannered people and many highly educated professionals too. It just adds interest, so far as I'm concerned. It's a crossroads between north and south. Frankly, it's better than Alabama.

1. Worst - Kentucky
Debt per Capita:$8,899 (37th)
Unemployment Rate: 10 percent (38th)
Home Price Change (’06 –’09): 6.1 percent (24th)
Median Household Income:$40,072 (41st)

Although Kentucky doesn’t place 50th in any one category, its overall poor scores secures its place as the worst-run state on our list. It is 43rd in GDP per capita, 47th in median household income, 47th in citizens with high school diplomas, and, at 18.6 percent, is 48th for percentage of the population below the poverty line. Kentucky also has an extremely weak S&P rating of AA-, supporting our assessment that it is the worst-run state in the country.

I am from Detroit, but I always wondered why Kentuckians voted for Republicans, who side with the coal mining companies, not the workers. Figure it out, people! The coal companies are not going to leave the state and take your jobs away if you form unions and demand the same rights as workers elsewhere. The coal isn't leaving the ground unless you make it, and the companies can't do it without YOU. Learn who is really on your side.(Hint: Democrats.) Republican politicians use the same BS non-issues to distract people, that they have for the last half century.

"we came from monkey's?" I've never heard a scientist put it that way, but I hear it a lot from ignorant creationists.

Everything in the universe evolves one way ore another. Why are you ashamed that at one point your defendants were different stages of monkeys. All humans are a sub species of apes and just if not more as nasty. Even the ones in the church house.

Despite good conservative, Christian values and trickle down theory, red states are poorer than blue states.

Our only hope is when the Mitch McConnell voters finally go extinct. However, their children and grandchildren will just vote for Rand Paul. So it won't be much better

I'm a Kentuckian and I have to say this entire thread is hilarious in almost every way possible.

The sad fact is that Kentucky does harbor communities that live in 3rd world conditions and the elected officials CLEARLY turn a blind eye to it and have been for over a century. The politicians of Frankfort (the Bluegrass) could care less about the hillbillies in the coal mining towns of Eastern Kentucky and they have been exploiting them for minerals and labor with decade upon decade of shady law making.

Well 6,7,8, and 9 all relate to the eastern part of the state.

I don't think that's Johnny.
The facts that he used "Kentuckistan" as a screen-name,is obviously educated, takes strong notice of how stupid Americans are as a group while being surprised that Americans are oblivious to it,and equates our inadequacies with nineteenth-century,,,seems to indicate that the author of this post is a Pakistani National.
Not the kind of Pakistani National to high-jack an airplane and crash it into a local school though.
This one either owns your local gas station,,,or your local dentist's office.

The only good thing about Kintuhkey is at least it's not Florida. If the US is a toilet, Florida is the dried piss at the base of the toilet

People in this state are dumb. It's really spelled Caintuck, but nobody can remember how it's really spelled, so they make up all kinds of dumb spellings such as Kentucke. It just goes to show how dumb people here are. People shuda staid out of this state and left it to the injuns and the bars.

Kentucky is 90% white, so why should the cops make some special effort to have a higher ratio than the state's own demographics reflect?(especially when they already do). They should have a 90% white police force.

Actually his jokes are pretty much on-target. I lived in Kentucky for 10 years and I have never met so many retarded people in my life (and I mean actually retarded!). Working with the social security dept. I've had thousands of examples come across my desk. People marrying retarded people for their social security check (and then having a dozen retarded children with them!). It makes me sick thinking about the abominations I had to deal with.

More to the point about his jokes is that they really can't pronounce the correct names of most things, even their own towns. They pronounce Versailles as "ver-sails", they pronounce Yosemite as "Yo-Sem-ite", etc.
Kentucky is a horrible, horrible place to live.

I've been to numerous states and it didn't get any worse than Oklahoma or Arkansas. Kentucky was great, but it was Louisville I went to, the major city of the state. I didn't explore the poor rural parts of it.
