Kentucky residents will be voting tomorrow on House Bill 1, which would make hunting and trapping a right, thereby protecting the use of "traditional" hunting and trapping methods. If this amendment is passed, Kentucky would never be able to ban cruel traps, nor would its cities and counties be able to prohibit bowhunting!

Steel-jaw, body-gripping, and snare traps are exceedingly cruel. Even rubber-coated traps cause immense pain and injury! Body-gripping traps crush bones and slowly suffocate animals, while snares jerk tightly around victims' necks, faces, bodies, or limbs. With all these traps, terrified animals, in their frantic struggles to escape will commonly injure themselves further, snapping bones or tearing flesh—some animals even chew off their own limbs to break free. Bowhunting is also horribly inhumane. Bowhunters often spend hours following bloody tracks before finding wounded deer. Many are not found, and their deaths are slow (taking several weeks in some cases) and painful.

Please vote "No!" on this hunting and trapping bill (H.B. 1), and please forward this e-mail widely!

Have you seen pictures where animals have suffered before dying in a trap...i have.I've read about dogs losing a limb to traps or being killed.Traps is very inhumane and if your not good with the bow,the animal can suffer before dying.

Thank you for your post. Its amazing that a few other people such as the post above yours, can willing watch an animal suffer and think nothing of it.

Accidents happen sandy, thats an unfortunate part of living in a free country, you take the mishaps as well as the good. Sorta like gun rights, you take a chance but you cant stop the whole for just a few, this isnt prison....yet.

I eat meat. I'm a hypocrite if I don't want it killed a certain way. Dead is dead, no matter how it gets there. I don't hunt so I will likely never see how the animal suffers, so it does not effect me. Slaughter houses are just as bad but I'll probably never see that either. But I love some medium rare Prime Rib and that's not about to change. So I'm not going to tell a hunter how to kill his game as long as I'm a meat eater. 'Revelations' you are wrong about Liberals. I am a Liberal and I support this amendment. So you don't know how the Liberal Mind works.

I voted yes, because I don't want a bunch of moron PETA jerks telling me I can't hunt for my food. God gave all of the fowl and beast of the earth for food. I agree if you hunt it should not be just for trophies but you should use all parts of the animals tHat you kill just like the American Indians did. So don't tell me its wrong to hunt for my food.

Hell yes, vote yes. American is completely right, along with others. No one needs more regulation by people that know nothing other than rights infringement of others. If some people want to control others so desperately, then control the damn criminals and leave the law abiding people the hell alone. Unless of course your desire is to create more criminals. Eventually the bite will be felt.
