Empire doesn't help me, but we got 120 countries with military bases in them (which gave justification for Lincoln's invasion into the South, when a military base was fired upon), over 1,000 military bases total, and we spend more on military expenditures than the entire world combined. Combined. The entire world combined. More than China. More than Russia. More than Brazil and Canada and Syria. Combined. Empire doesn't help me, or the working classes, but it's great for the elites to divert our attention elsewhere, and to keep the war perpetual, as George Orwell warned us about in 1984, for those KYians who are able to read.
That being said, if America, and Americans, aren't ready to pull our troops home, and just start worrying about ourselves, if we maintain this expansive Empire, we are held liable for all of the bad that happens in the world. When America invades Iraq and steals oil, but ignores Darfur, the Sudan Civil War, Kony in Uganda, Ivory Coast in 2010, and the genocide in Rwanda, we show the world what kind of Empire we are going to be. One who robs and plunders other nations for our selfish gain... which, in the long run, doesn't help me, since it creates enemies all over the world. America was attacked on 9/11, not because of jealousy of our freedoms, but because we have been murdering their family members since 1898 (the year America became an Empire).
In Haiti, and much of Latin America, America loves to intervene militarily because of Socialism. Not the actual implementation, but the perceived threat of a possible implementation of Socialism has been enough of a justification to intervene in wars. America overthrew Baby Doc in 1986, only to overthrow Aristide two more times after that. We also never leave. We still have troops in Germany and Japan, after World War 2, we left them behind, to protect the peace. So that's perfect for Germany. They can worry about being an economic powerhouse, while America foots the bill to protect them. Then there's Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and all of these other countries who gets donations from us, which is one political lever we use to control the world, but then again, we prop up dictators, which pisses off the world... and then usually, those America arm, like Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein, we have to turn around and take them out too. Just like in Shane... "pick up the gun boy"... and we're doing the same thing now.
All of this being said, since we are an Empire, to ignore another Rwanda, or Sudanese genocide, without doing anything about it, would leave blood on our hands. It's time America decided who they want to be. An Empire and the World's Policeman, or Isolationist, and just start worrying about our own grandmothers and grandchildren.

Good evening John.Hope you're doing alright.Check this out though,,,America is the most pleasant, prosperous and plentiful location on the planet to pitch a tent and call home. And also has quite a bit of freedoms, opportunities, and other sugar- coated amenities that we really have our "military" to thank for.Can you see my point at all dude?

So Spartan? What exactly are we free to do here in America? The way I see it other countries are much more free. Iraq and most third world countries you can ride in the back of a pickup truck, try doing that here. Don't hafta have a permit to sale goods, the list goes on. You're about as free in America as a pair of nuts in some tighty Whitey 's two sizes too small.

Bribed career politicians, greed, corporations paying for laws to be made, letting lawyers get away with everything, allowing Jews to assume positions of power and manipulate the meaning of the constitution. Free my azz

My American Empire keeps my tax dollars and my freedoms, and murders innocents all across the world, under the guise of anti-terrorism, when we're the biggest terrorists on the planet, and with all of the innocent bloodshed, we aren't making America safe, at least not working classes, but instead, are creating more folks who wish more 9/11s on us. You haven't been fighting for my freedom... you've fighting against them the whole time, which is why you're mad about what I say now.
Network 8 has a good point about riding the back of trucks, and being able to sell goods in public... there's very little freedom in America, anywhere. Try saying f u to a cop, and see how well he enforces our freedom of speech. NSA... Bradley Manning... Patriot Act... Homeland Security... ATF... FBI... CIA... etc etc etc
