From $17 to $20 isn't horrible. Understand prices do vary by make, model, year, manufacturer/brand, quality level, material (organic/ceramic/semi-metallic ), parts house supplier and so on...Rockauto is typically the lowball place to go if you're just looking for a deal.

Pretty rare a caliper needs to be replaced unless it's leaking or sticking. Did you have fluid on the ground in small or large puddles? Brake pedal go to the floor? When you hit the brakes did it pull to one side or the other? Answered no to all and you probably didn't need calipers.

$323 for rear brake pads and rotors, or even brake shoes and drums seems a bit high, but what do you drive?

$49 in labor has to be the lowest I have ever seen since I was a kid. Or is that "Per side" lol. I have seen some places price it that way so it looks cheap.

No one can "already start working it". Like I asked the last person, did you sign a consent form? Taking tires off to check brakes should be no charge, but hey if they wanted $20 for their rack(car lift) time I could understand.

Most rotors can be found in parts houses for less than $50 each on a bad day. Again what do you drive and don't go by Rockauto's pricing because as I said before, they're not in town and readily accessible stock and meant for deals for the patient person.

Hardware is typically very cheap and worth what little they ask for, but I would have asked to demonstrate why it was needed. Also are you certain you received your hardware they say they installed?

One last question, were your brakes squeaking or grinding when you went to them. If grinding, I could imagine the calipers digging into the rotors and needing replacement.

Answer my questions, I'm here to help.

I get the impression that most of the people complaining, are realizing they voluntarily signed the consent form and gave permission for all repairs without reading the form. Or they are busy gathering attorney money, or speaking to attorneys.

I am glad I came to this site before going to Brakeway! Thank you so very much for your honesty. I am sure all I need is pads because I am beginning to hear a few squeals when applying my brakes. Now I know $99.00 for front & back brake work in this "greedy" economy doesn't exist not unless it's your backyard mechanic. I will go elsewhere. Have a great day!

Got a very reasonable quote on the phone for brake pads at the Lexington Road store. Dropped off car and was told that I needed a $600 repair for just the front brakes. I agreed to $300 in repair, pads, rotors etc and went to get a second opinion for the rest of it which was a piston replacement. Mechanic told me everything was fine. Felt scammed and wondering if I really needed the $300 job that I paid for. Will never go back. When will businesses learn that honesty will ensure their long-term growth? I've been using Michel Tires on Market for ten years because I never once felt they were trying to sell me something I don't need, should have gone to them for this brake job but I was in a hurry and they are always very busy.

I recently took my car into Brakeway to have my brakes done. I received no pressure at anytime. The price was significantly lower than what I was quoted by the dealer for just my front brakes it took about 90 minutes and the work was done correctly with a good warranty. They even suggested bringing the car in a year from now and they will inspect them for free. This was the Brakeway in Middletown, KY. They did a great job.
